Good morning everyone,I have been really struggling with inflammation levels in my right knee and 3 joint aspirations have only helped for about 24 hours.
I am being sent in for a Depo IM injection to try to help. I have only had this once before, several years back and I felt so ill afterwards for about 2 days afterwards. I had the worst headache of my life, vomited and couldn't stop shivering. I am feeling worried about having another one and wondered if anyone had any advice please? Does keeping really hydrated help at all?
Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you previously had a reaction to the drug and it’s worth letting your doctor know how you felt after the last one before you get there for the injection. The side effects of depo-medrone are as you describe and all these drugs affect people differently. If you can put up with a horrible couple of days but it does the job then it may be worth the nastiness that accompanies it but you must take advice and not be pushed into it if you can’t face it.
I’ve had many of these over the years and have never had a problem -and they worked - but we’re all different and I feel for you as the apprehension is sometimes worse than the actual experience! Good luck and all the best and hope you get some relief from pain very soon.
Thank you. I have also been referred to Orthopaedics now as well following an x-ray (not sure why yet) and then in November they have said they are considering changing my meds if they can work it so I meet the criteria for biologics. So far I am not feeling aide effects from the depo to the same degree as before.
Biologics have made a big difference to me. Much more able now , though has taken a couple of years to get to the best biologic for me. Not gone but manageable. Good luck x
Which biologic are you on. And which do you think had the most effect. I am on Ro Actemra but now they’re talking about changing it. So not s Ute what to do any help would be appreciated.
