Morning everyone,I have been trying to find some pens for RA hands, but seem to be having trouble finding any apart from ones on amazon. Does anyone know where I can purchase writing pens comfortable to hold, they seem to be elusive.

Thanks

I have never seen special pens…but years ago when my hands were a mess I had some foam tubes that you slipped over a regular pen so that you could hold it….then along came tablets that you talked at…& you printed your pearls of wisdom! So no need for pens.

I also had a rubber stamp of my signature….that even worked on cheques! But don’t ask me where I got it..I guess Google Rubber Signature stamps?

Good Luck…..hope you find something.

I know, it’s annoying when you can’t even write something as simple as a shopping list! Have a look here completecareshop.co.uk/dail.... Hope there’s something there that will help.

I use Z-Grip ballpoints by Zebra and find them really good. They have a fine point version too. Too much padding round a pen and it makes my writing go odd and makes it harder for me. I recently saw these Stabilo ergonomic pens online but they are rollerball. Also available for left handlers too!

Going to order one of the ergonomic rollerballs I think as they do look good. Prefer a biro to write with though as sometimes rollerballs can go scratchy quickly.

I use the stabilo ones and find them really easy to use. You can buy refills for them so no need to buy the whole one each time.

Sounds sensible re refills as I saw the pens were around £6 for the Stabilo ergonomic rollerballs. I’d prefer biros but haven’t seen them on the Stabilo ergonomics range but will go look right now.! Thank you. 💗

Try Penagain -ergosof pen (yes, this is the right spelling) from Amazon. I had a similar pen for years some time ago -tho it called itself something else- and I found it really easy and comfortable to use as my hands at the time were so painful. It’s a totally different way of holding a writing implement but it doesn’t put stress on fingers or wrists. Hope it could be helpful.

I suppose everyone's idea of a comfortable pen is subjective but for years I've used the Mitsubishi Uni-ball Signo retractable 0.7 tip. Nice to hold with rubber grip and easy flow gel. Occasionally a new one needs a couple of scribbles to get it going but I love them and buy in bulk. I find biros really hard work - they dry up quickly and seem to need more pressure to get the ink out.

Available in other colours. I get a few packets at a time so I don’t have to think about it..

Hi

I put the foam that you can buy for pens and utensils, makes a big difference

Hi,

I have used these pens for a few years now and find the grip comfortable and you don’t have to press hard for the ink to come out. As others have said, I use dictation on my phone or iPad a lot but can be frustrating when you have to check what you have written due to grammar or spelling mistakes. Xxx

I've tried many different types over the years, even tried the Stabilo one NK suggested but couldn’t get on with it. The one I find best for me is a triangular one, I think I got it at The Range. It’s a Faber-Castell poly ball faber-castell.co.uk/product... I do think it's one of those things though, you need to try out different ones to find what suits you, what one person finds ok another may not. Good luck in your search though, finding the right or most comfortable grip can make a difference between legible & ilegible handwriting I have found.

I got a box of FORAY Comfort RT-M Medium from Viking Direct and find the rubber grip very comfortable.

I bought some gel shapes to go on mine from ebay, only about £5 for 3, they are ergonomically shaped to fit your hands perfectly. hope this helps xx

I did have this problem but when my rheumy sent me to see a hand therapist he gave me two suggestions both of which i have been using for over 5yrs, having a semi firm grey foam with a hole in the middle, I push the pen through that and I have found this is firm enough and wide enough to ease the pressure on my hands when writing; the other is using elastic bands, just wrapping them around the pen until they have the grip/width I need. I don't know if this will be useful to you but I hope you find what your looking for; take care and best wishes.
