Hi Everyone,
I am soon going to need to do more actual writing and have seen some recommended pens on the internet but just wondered if anyone has any experience of good pens for RA?
Thanks
Hi Everyone,

I use "soft PVC holders for pens and pencils" from Amazon. They slide over the pen and make it much easier to hold. Young children sometimes use them when learning to write !
I also use the microphone (bottom left hand side of the key board) on the I pad or Windows 10 to dictate instead of typing.
Hi TTCC
In the past I have bought some 'fat'pens from a £1 shop which were ideal But haven't seen any more since. I am sure there must be some sort of adapter on the market somewhere but my hubby drilled a hole thru a cork of an empty wine bottle which I fit over some pens and it does the trick perfectly.
Happy scribbling

Polystyrene pipe lagging is good. I also use triangular pen things from Amazon you slip over pens
What a good idea about lagging and cork! I have some fat arthritis pens I got from Amazon which are easier to hold than normal ones - by Aidapt - will try to paste links below. We already had some holder things you can slide on pens which my children had, so I knew these didn't work for me as still too thin - when my knuckles are stiff I can't bend them that close easily. I still have to take a lot of breaks even writing with my 'fat' pen as it hurts but it is easier to hold. Good luck
Hi all
I use a sponge ball with pen pushed through and as soft able to cut to ideal shape for my hand
I tend to use my iPad keyboard. We m never convinced that fat pens help but that's just me!
I draw for a living, so I just had to share what has worked better for me so far. I got some of the squishy foam sleeves for pens & pencils at the dollar store. They are fine for a while, but the ones like that that are actually rubbery and have a bit of a spiral grip work much better for me. The stickiness and spiral grooves help me grip comfortably for longer periods of time.
I also bought a mechanical pencil through Amazon from Pilot called the Dr. Grip Pencil. amazon.com/Pilot-Mechanical...
Pilot has pens like this also that are more comfortable than a regular pen. They can be ordered on Amazon as well.
The other place that I found that is good for finding ergonomic pens is jetpens.com and they have a guide to ergonomic pens/pencils. jetpens.com/blog/ergonomic-...
I hope this helps.
It's funny but I've just been trying to find refills for mine, a BiC Select Line gel.. It's the best pen I've found but any with a chunky non slip grip work for me, I'm using some I got from Aldi at the mo but they're just ball point, OK for normal use but for things like writing cards I like a gel pen. I did try one of the ergonomic ones but fell out with it because the ink bleeds when writing & the ones Creakywrists suggests didn't work for me because it kept creeping, though it may be that the pen was too thin. I think all you can do is go to somewhere like WH Smiths or Staples & try them out, see what suits you best.
Thank you everyone - I will have to do some experimenting with all of the advice - I've just got to hope once my writing is able and legible it all makes sense 😳😂
