i thought not long now for my appointment on the 14th March, then the post came and it changed to the 1st August. So i rang up and told them i was looking forward to my appointment as i had questions and pain to talk about. The best the lady on the phone could do was July, so i said no to far away. The lady who does the Rheumatology appointments is on holiday till next week, so they are going to get her to ring me on Tuesday next week to see if she can help me out. Not very happy at moment as i'm having pains in my back , hands , knees feet and neck, too name a few.

Hope everyone else is pain free.

When you speak to her next week and her answer is only the appointment in July, tell her you will take that appointment but could she equally place you on the cancellation list. That way if one is cancelled then maybe you get an appointment sooner.

When was your last appointment Chris and how long have you had RA for? I know that the NHS consider patients who have stabilised on their meds to warrant an appointment with the consultant once a year in some places but if you've only been on MTX for a short while - as you profile suggests - then this isn't really acceptable and I think you should speak to your GP and ask them to push for you to be seen sooner - as well as doing as Georje suggests and taking the July apt with proviso that they put you on the cancellation list too.

was diagnosed with psa 20009 early in the yr. my age was 59. Had been seen over a number of yrs after they were looking at ra and it was not found, was sent back after gp didnt know what pain killers to give me. Started mtx 2009 on 10mg now on 20mg, also have degenerative desease of the lower spine and have injections in ( calsified disc). I had the last injection in Jan. and am still in pain also getting pain else where. My last app. was november. I shall do as suggested and ask to go on cancellation list.

Thanks for that.

Yes, definitely have a chat with your GP and if they agree its too long to wait, get the GP to do the arguing for an earlier appointment for you. Going on a cancellation list is good too, as long as you can actually get to an appointment at short notice.
