So have been on antibiotics for two weeks and have been resting...as best I can. At weekend I felt worse again. Had a routine rheumy appointment Monday morning. (New consultant, not been seen by any consultant in 18mths ish).
He obviously knew I'd had problems, first he says you don't look very well, then he said he couldn't believe I'd bothered coming to the appointment when I wasn't well and he'd have stayed in bed.
Still he did my obs, got blood taken, organized a chest x-ray and spoke to the respiratory team. Then he rang me yesterday to give me results and see how I was.
Getting the chest x-ray and the radiologist was also concerned at the state of me and rang the respiratory people twice to make sure I had an appointment.
Was seen by them yesterday.
They think now a bit of my lung is collapsed, I'm in too much pain to properly breathe and I need to start breathing deeper to reinflate my lung.
Ive been given morphine and naproxen and a wee machine with balls to improve my breathing.
Left this script with GP... completely out of breath walking from car park into reception. GP rings questioning why I'm getting these drugs. 🙈 Had to explain that I am actually very sore and I no more want to take them than she wants to give them to me but it's gone on too long and I need to breathe.
On the positive my daughter hoovered and cleaned bathrooms without being asked, Dr said walking the dogs is recommended, husband thinks I'm fibbing and I am less sore this morning.
Thanks again for all your support last time round.

Thank goodness someone was looking out for you! And YAY 🥳for your daughter 😇I hope you continue well on your road to recovery 🤞but do it gradually, and at your own pace -not as anyone else dictates.
What rotten luck! I suppose there is an upside to your woes though. Being seen, investigated and treated quickly (plus not having to clean bathrooms. Bonus.) I think dogs should be available on prescription. Their joie de vivre and empathy make them invaluable in easing a troubled mind and going for a walk always helps.
it’s absolutely serious to have pneumonia and very slowly begin to walk again outdoors. My GP gave me great advice after I was sent home to recover in March 2021; only walk as far as you feel comfortable with. Repeat for three days. Only increase a little at a time and do the same every three days if comfortable. And eat many different nutrients, eat plenty. Pneumonia is highly demanding and if you think you need to eat less as doing less, you’re in danger of becoming malnourished.. no joke! Pneumonia demands many calories so we must eat lots during the first month or more.
It can take normally healthy people six months to recover fully. With your lung state, please go very carefully.. ignore demands of cleaning. Just do personal care, don’t even cook. If someone can bring precooked meals/do the cooking, let them. If they want to eat, they’ll cook! Neither of my lungs collapsed in spite of severe infection to both. Respiratory Registrar told me they were so bad, he could not believe I was breathing fairly well and even moving around. But I had been in the habit of frequently practising Max Strom’s breathing exercises.. if you can achieve it, it’s excellent lung exercise. Again, practise with what you have been instructed/given before attempting more demanding breathing. Max Strom m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Lb5L...
Go steady.. avoid complications and even order in food if nobody is willing to give you maximum rest! Best wishes for full recovery. 💐
Please don't hurry to do more too soon, eat plenty, if you don't feel like eating big meals have lots of little snacks handy for when you do feel like eating. Pneumonia takes quite some getting over, sounds like your new consultant is very pro active. Take care walk when you feel able and rest when you get tired.
YOUR IN MY PRAYERS-----------GET WELL AND FEEL BETTER SOON AND ONLY DO WHAT YOU CAN, NO OVER DOING . TIME TO WAIT ON MOM ,YOU DESERVE IT.HOPE YOU CAN ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS AND FEEL BETTER.
I’m sorry to hear your hubby feels you’re fibbing, surely he can see and hear your struggles with breathing. I have Atelectasis which is collapsed lung, and like you get out of breath very quickly. Mine is due to my ribs fusing and having no chest expansion. I have a wonderful respiratory specialist who keeps an eye on things, as I also have scarring in my lungs from aspirating acid. My specialist increased my inhalers, which has helped open up the collapsed areas, although she says they won’t recover due to lack of chest expansion from the fused ribs. I have had to learn to pace myself, and accept offers of help, which I still struggle with. Im fortunate my hubby reads up on everything to do with my health, and encourages me to rest, and leave tasks for him to do. Perhaps take him to your next appointments, so he can hear it from the experts.
That was good of your daughter helping out, and hopefully it will become a regular thing. I have a device to exercise my lungs where I can increase the effort required for inspiration and expiration, probably similar to what you’re using. If I miss a day or 2 I really notice it.
Hope your able to enjoy Xmas, put your feet up and let others do the running around 🤗
My husband thinks I'm fibbing that the Dr said I was allowed to go for a walk. He'd wrap me up in n cotton wool and is very worried. I do play in down a but to stop him worrying.
🤗Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you meant he didn’t believe the issues the specialist had raised. I do the same with my hubby for the same reason 😂🤗
Maybe it is time to be honest and let him know how unwell you are ? These are serious medical issues you have.No cooking, cleaning or petty much anything for the next while. Let everyone look after you over Christmas, they will all cope better than you think they might.
What a lovely reply and good advice from Charisma hopefully you see the common sense in everything she said. Time to kick your husband to the curb though, has he ever been extremely sick🤔. Tell him pneumonia can end someone's life that's how serious it is. Kidding about the curb but not about it ending life please do be aware of the seriousness of this and use the breathing exercise to help strengthen your lung again.
