Any Costochondritis sufferers on here?

A couple of years ago this condition was question marked as my GP had sent me to hospital by ambulance suffering with a really bad chest pain, like I'd been kicked in the sternum. I had a chest x-ray, ECG and Bloods taken then an home. I have had RA for 15 years and have latent TB found 25 years ago via routine x-ray, so always a concern. I had my Rituxmab infusion a month ago and need to give it a while longer yet, but I actually feel worse. My shoulders have now started to grind with the feeling of a giant sat on them. Does anyone on here have experience of Costochondritis and how to deal with it? It is not felt directly over my sternum this time but across the right chest like I've been kicked. I'm into he third day and I pride helps but doesn't mask the pain fully. Thoughts please.

I have this from time to time -I assume it’s part of RA but sometimes get the pain, but not the tenderness, from back problems. But you need to get any chest pain checked out properly . Just in case

Thanks janmar, the pain is like I've been kicked by someone wearing a hobnailed boot.

Hi again hanmary, when you have a really bad attack of Costochondritis can it keep the same level of intense pain for a couple of days and then just disappear? I expected a very slow decline in pain rather than all or nothing. Yes I've taken very low dose Ibuprofen which only takes the edge of, but today it feels compketely different even though it hasn't been enough to deal with my grinding shoukders. Does this still sound like Costochondritis, almost spasmadic?

I find that any joint which gets an acute inflammation can both start and end quite abruptly though ‘ordinary ‘ soreness may carry on. But chest pain needs checking out medically..

I have this from time to time.... the pain is always on the breast bone, and it is terrible. The only medication I have found to deal with it is OraMorph. This usually completely removes the pain.
