Well. I wasn’t expecting this. I don’t even think this is the flu (and it’s not covid). Just a common cold and I can’t get out of bed. Any fast acting remedies? Xx

First cold since being immunosuppressed
If I can’t get out of bed it’s flu. Lots of drinks, rest and time to recover is the best I can offer. Hope you feel better soon.
I have no words of wisdom, but I can empathise. Last winter was my first winter on treatment, and where I might normally get 2 or 3 mild colds a year, even though I was shielding I caught more than half a dozen. Each one floored me for at least 2 weeks and invariably ended up going to my chest. As per other replies; rest, fluids, basic otc cold and flu meds. And time.
I hope you soon recover darling. HUgs.xxxx
Lemsip. Central heating. Spicy soup. Nutrients. I am lurgified too atm. Forgot what a cold was like 🤧. Will spend today on sofa with blankets & ‘Grace & Frankie’…Take care x
Unfortunately because we were in lockdown for so long. Viruses that we were normally exposed to, our immunity waned. Meaning this year colds are hitting people harder and for longer. Plenty rest, paracetamol and fluids in order. Hope you feel better soon.
Sorry it’s flu . I have it too and it’s a bad dose . I’ve now got a chest infection. Only been to work and wear a mask and still got it
Hot toddy. Whole juiced lemon, big tablespoon of honey, lots of whiskey and hot water. 🙂There is a terrible cold going round. I was ill for about 2 weeks in all.
Zoe research from their wide survey of people reporting daily for months shows Here is the current ranking of COVID symptoms after 2 vaccinations:
Headache
Runny nose
Sneezing
Sore throat
Loss of smell
The previous ‘traditional’ symptoms as still outlined on the government website, such as anosmia (loss of smell), shortness of breath and fever rank way down the list, at 5, 29 and 12 respectively. A persistent cough now ranks at number 8 if you’ve had two vaccine doses, so is no longer the top indicator of having COVID.
We should be using our lateral flow tests if we have these symptoms.
That said, I hope yours is just a cold!

It is now so difficult to tell whether it's a cold or Covid as the symptoms in immunised people are exactly the same. At least, do a lateral flow test if you have symptoms although you have to have a high level of virus particles to test positive reliably on a lateral flow test.
Nothing to do but rest up and self medicate as appropriate. Be kind to yourself.
It’s too late now but my old GP recommended getting the first defence nasal spray (vicks and boots do one). I’m probably going to jinx it now but I have only had a couple of colds since diagnosis 12 years ago. It may just be coincidence but seems to work for me (I also use when taking flights). That and good hand washing/anti bact (which we are all doing like lunatics anyway 🤦♀️). Hope you feel better soon x
