Just do what you can, a bit at a time and rest in between. You will get there even if it takes a long time. Don’t beat yourself up about it, no point making yourself worse. 🤗
Put an add in a local shop window or local social media and check references. I have a lovely girl who does mine and is really glad of the income. I pay £11 an hour and she's worth every penny. Failing that get a company in like Molly Maid ( around here ) and ask them to blitz then start doing just a bit and see how it goes.
Can’t help but I’ve been there . Yesterday was the first day in over 3 1/2 years I felt able to clean the kitchen properly..omg there was inches of dirt and grease on top of the cupboards and window frames.?so ashamed I use to be so house proud . It’s a start lord knows if or how long it will take me to do the rest of the house. Cleaners hard to come by .. hope you done help x
Thanks for the reply done 45mins in the kitchen Had injection today for the 1st time hope it kicks in soon
When that injection kicks in…..don’t go mad cleaning….or you will be back where you started.
Hi thanks for your reply not much different as yet after the o jections x
Yup. Good cleaners are like rocking horse droppings. I wish you well in your search
Yes getting a good cleaner is very difficult. Got my treasure by word of mouth. She only does 2.5 hours once per week, but it's more than I can do.
Look for a cleaning agency to get on top of it…then look for things like a very light weight vacuum cleaner so that you can at least push it through & pick up the worst & if you haven’t got one…see if you can get a dishwasher……having the right equipment really does help get on top of housework…..but basically try not to fret about it too much…..basically everyone has let housework slip at times.Hope you get sorted soon.
I find tidying up every morning helps to keep clutter at bay. Try to keep house furnishing simple and kitchen tidy. Limit yourself to the basics and just do the rest when you are able to. As long as work surfaces are clear and clean, bedclothes are changed and bathroom and kitchen are kept tidy - it is easy to keep this on a roll. Don't iron unless you really have to. I have had to give up on climbing and bending my knees and my hands can be impossible. I couldn't clean properly for 4 months recently until my new biologic began to work - now I am able to do more - but joint problems developed through the 20 years of RA have changed my ability to do house work.
Good advice thanks
Since having my back surgery I have a student coming into clean for me over the summer, unfortunately University starts back in a few weeks time and she will no longer be available. But you may get someone who could do a week or two to help get on top of things. My village has a FB page which I advertised on.
Thanks for reply
Yes; it’s difficult isn’t it? I have a shoes off house (limited hoovering). Only dust when I can write my name in it 😳. But (nearly) always have a clean kitchen, toilet and bathroom. I have started using dettol wipes for my toilet and bins now, and for paintwork if I’ve had too much coffee! Never used to use them because of environmental impact etc but it works.
Feather duster and ostrich extender one for high places also cuts down on time, and ‘dust-gloves’. Also invested in a better hoover (it still gets dusty but works really well when I do get it out).
I used to pay my niece to do it all every couple of weeks, but she inconsiderately started working full-time 🤣
Re: kitchen. TOP TIP sugar soap for ‘kitchen sticky’ will save you hours x
Thanks for your hot tips
A little at a time and lots of rest inbetween. I am sure your house isn't as bad as you think it is. You are more important than the house.
Adult social care can usually give you a list of reputable cleaners locally.
