Front opening bras

Morning all, hope this Monday finds you not too bad.

Just wondering if any of you use front opening bras, if so where do you get them from please? Need size 38FF which not many companies seem to do. Thank you

Have you tried Miss Mary of Sweden? That was one I tried I can remember. Look on the Simply Be website I think I found more there. However, I didn’t like any and went back to struggling with my old bras. I did buy some bra extenders which helped me put them on back to front and turn them around.

Hope you can find something suitable and comfortable 🤞🏻

Thank you Lolabridge, will try there. All the best.

I have always turned them round to fasten them then swivelled them back, even before RA.

Lolabridge profile image
Lolabridge in reply toNeonkittie17

Me too!

in reply toLolabridge

I fasten them, then step into the bra and pull it up my body. It often ends with one or more hook undone though and I end up asking my husband to help! Front fastening bras would be useful, I remember having some for breast feeding years ago. However, I’d rather be measured and fitted with a bra by a trained fitter than take a chance online.

I'm back to work after this elbow surgery and its going well. I have square eyes after catching up on my refresher training we have to do every 3 months, I had all this year's from January. I met a friend after work for a smoothie, it was nice xx

hello Goldsky, yes work is going well, spent the day today catching up on refresher training, things change and updates etc. I went to sports shop after work, wasn't planned hence I had Xmas socks on in my boots! The shop assistant says he does the same otherwise they never get worn! 😂He was very kind and said same trainer in junior section is much cheaper instead of about £40 I paid £28 as they go up to 5 or 5 1/2😉of course I didn't need another pair, but hey they are nice😂

Marks & Spencer (M&S) was founded in my home city of Leeds in 1884! Still going strong all over the UK today. A favourite of this nation. Especially for it’s lovely underwear.

Here in the US it was Sears & Roebuck founded in 1893 that was a family favorite with affordable clothing for kids and everyone. They also sold furniture and appliances and Christmas gifts of all kinds. They unfortunately closed as they lost a lot of business to online shopping. Of course, Macy’s (formerly Bamberger’s) is still in the running. 😊

I think many of us let ourselves swing and relax a bit!! I am wearing some M&S strappy Lycra support vests which hold me in place very nicely and no digging in metal bits!

So true and when you have had so many steroid shots in your bottom and struggled to pick something you have dropped in public, it definitely all disappears, and becomes the least of your worries. 😜

ElizabethW profile image
ElizabethW in reply toNeonkittie17

I have been going braless most of the time since covid started too. With my shoulders and hands the way they have been lately, it is hard to put them on. When I do wear one, I'm not used to it anymore and I can feel it digging into my ribs. Vests and cardigans do provide some modesty, but it is getting hot. I think i might look for some that fasten in front.

Goldsky profile image
Goldsky in reply toElizabethW

Perhaps we all need to start a company that makes pretty, comfortable front opening bras...we could make a fortune😊

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply toElizabethW

I think I will too as if they rub on the back they can wear my skin off it’s so sensitive. The Lycra and cotton vests from M&S are really good though.

Goldsky profile image
Goldsky in reply toNeonkittie17

I am sorry to hear that Neonkittie

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply toGoldsky

💗 It’s if the piece of fabric covering the hooks isn’t long enough ... some bra manufacturers cut corners .. even the better ones! .. it exposes the metal and it irritates the skin. I am very sensitive to elastic, latex and anything that can offend the skin that way!

Goldsky profile image
Goldsky in reply toNeonkittie17

Our boobs were sent to try us. Hope you have found comfortable ones Neonkittie.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply toGoldsky

Some better then others .. what is comfy round the front isn’t at the back! Hence why I’m going to get some front openers. For now the cotton/Lycra vests are a good alternative for me. Perhaps we should invent a superbRA! 😁

For curvaceous ladies like us it’s a real problem to find front opening bras with adequate support. That’s why I went back to wearing my bras from Bravissimo with the back extenders. Top tip: a little talc around the chest makes it much easier to rotate the bra around your body after you’ve done it up at the front!

Try phoning Bravissimo for help. Or Ample Bosom!

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply toLolabridge

My cousin was a Bravissimo sales advisor for years. All the time she worked there they didn’t do small enough bras for me and now she’s left I got bigger!

Yes and to be honest I don't like them. I got from Marisota as M&S didn't do any but if you Google you'd be surprised what comes up. My husband thought some looked really good (pervy though) . I'm a common size and I think Fantasia made them. M&S I think now do a zip up sports bra which might be nice and they now stock other brands like Berlie too.

Goldsky profile image
Goldsky in reply tomedway-lady

Thanks for the info medway-lady. All the best.

I wear a comfort bra from m&s a bit like a sports bra but with a full cup no straps ( kinda looks like a crop top but more supportive) so easy to put on.

I buy front fastening, but mine are not very supportive. I imagine with that size you need good support.

Mine are more like cotton vest type things, as I cannot bear a bra.

Even my cotton vest type has to come off after teatime, and I don't even get dressed until.the afternoon

I tried front fastening but as a 44DD I found the 5 hooks at the front dug into me and hurt. I can’t wear wired for the same reason. Mind you my sternum is quite tender so that’s probably my problem. I have 2 front opening bras that I’ve had for years. The big problem I found was my FF boobies like you. To put it bluntly, not only did I find them very awkward to put on, keeping my large boobies out of the way to attempt to fasten it was pretty impossible. Front fastening bras have more hook and eyes than a conventional one so if you also have sore/stiff fingers it’s pretty difficult and painful. I gave up and went back to my conventional bras and doing what everyone else does even though it hurts my shoulders to twist it round. Big boobies are a pain in more ways than one . 😂😂😂

I also wear sports bras when not out and about. Just climb in and pull up no hooks or eyes to fight with lol. Not many places do nice front fasting bras. Companies seem to think only nice bras can be done back only. How about we all send a complaint to all bra companies about it.

Goldsky profile image
Goldsky in reply toNuttyshirlz

Nuttyshirlz profile image
Nuttyshirlz in reply toGoldsky

Yes well they got to listen if we all complain lol

Bravisimo have one front fastening bra that goes to a G and Ample bosom has a couple, but apparently are American cup size so you may need to go bigger than usual. I need bigger, so cant give a review. I recently bought the sleep bra from bravisimo which is lovely and soft with no wire, but leaves you with a monoboob. As you can see this is an issue close to my heart lol.I find the doing up and spin easier if you have material under it, like doing it up over high waisted pants or a thin scarf or sarong. I learnt this back home in Australia, trying to put a bra on after a swim when you are slightly damp as its too humid to get properly dry.
