Vitamin D oral Spray: Hi, I can recall some people on... - NRAS
Vitamin D oral Spray
You should really talk to your GP if what they have given you isn’t suiting you. We can’t tell you what to take. I hope you get it sorted soon 😊
Hi Poshcards
I have been using the Better You brand Dlux 3000 Vitamin D, take a look at there website x
I use drops and my husband uses a spray but I took my drops to the doctor to check what dosage I should take. She advised and approved the brand.
Why don’t the tablets agree with you? As maybe it’s not the vit d but the other things in the tablet, so another brand might be fine?
I take drops, but as others have said you need to get dose right. I am prescribed more than 10ug a day, as otherwise I can’t keep levels up.
I buy a cheap Vit D3 tablet from my local Chemist. They're 1000iu and they told me to take one every other day.
Hi I’m just wondering, why is everyone taking vitamin D, is folic acid not all we need?
Folic acid is a B Vitamin, B12 calflo, coprescribed with methotrexate from experience, or folate deficient anaemia (or rbc anaemia), again from experience. In RD it's a tendency to have low Vitamin D, more so if we have disease activity, so supplemented to help keep bone strength as it regulates calcium & phosphate. I'm prescribed Adcal-D3 1500mg/400iu twice daily, having osteopenia/borderline osteoporosis.
So was I until rushed to a and e a few months ago with possible passing 3 kidney stones, taken off adcal fron then x
5years ago diagnosed with fibromyalgia and low vit D. Rheumatologist registrar said high dose vit D then see GP . Then without a further blood test the consultant and GP said don't bother!!!! I look 10 mcg all last winter but plan to check with rheumy nurse next appointment as now diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis but getting a blood test to check the level has been impossible, I think it's more expensive!!!
I'd ask GP for the chewy Vit D3 by Kowa as the tablets did upset my tummy but the chewy ones don't. They just reissued with the brand name and no problem at all. There's a study out now that low Vit D appears to be a factor in Covid deaths so bound to be a run on it. The study is by Mount Sinai Hospital in America. I don't know anything about vitamins so if they is helpful or not.
The study was done in Spain with a very small group of @500 as people admitted with corona were showing very low levels of vitamin d . The study was done to see if vit d could help to accelerate recovery as doctors noticed the higher level of vit d in patents recovered more quickly . It has become standard now for those admitted to be given an initial dose intravenously . No one yet knows why this vit d works (alongside other medication ) but what they do know is it helps the liver and keeps the pores in the lungs closed as they should do .
My tummy also get upset with vitamin D tablets .Should Inask my doctor about it because my vitamin D level is slightly low and also have shin pain as well as RA&OA plus hypothyridosim.
