Routine blood tests

Was due to give my 3 month blood tests in March, but as I have got my shielding letter and being advised to self isolate for 3 months what happens. I do not want to go anywhere near medical centre. Anybody know what the procedure is for giving bloods.

Round here Rheumatology and GP have sent texts 'don't come or call , you will be contacted' . It's all done subject to need and and applies to bloods, appts and hosp prescriptions .

Everywhere is different. Contact whoever normally does your blood tests and ask.

I pay to have someone come in to take my bloods and they are shielded when they come in as well. xxx

I had a generic letter from rheumatology dept yesterday advising those on established methotrexate to go to 12 week testing. My twelve weeks is almost up, so I phoned gp surgery for advice. They have told me the phlebotomist will call me next week for screening questions and then if I’m well I will go in that same afternoon for my blood test. I am not however in the shielding group

I'm fortunate enough to have a District Nurse come to do mine. Even in Lockdown the DNs are still working in the community.

I've just made an appointment for next Tuesday. It's usually a drop in centre but it's now appointment-only and as the appointments are 15 minutes apart I'm assuming that I won't see anyone around other than the phlebotomist. As it happens, every time slot is available so I suspect that I'll be the only person there anyway.

So different everywhere isn’t it? I am due my blood tests in a few weeks and have been advised that the nurse from my GP surgery will come to my house and do my blood tests. If you call who ever usually does your tests and they should be able to let you know the best way to get your blood tests done x

Thank you everyone for the advice I think

I will wait until they contact me. Not in any hurry to go out and will see what happens. Many thanks everyone and stay safe x

Had letter for shielding on Wednesday I called my GP surgery to enquire about blood testing. Went next day and nurse met me in carpark with mask and gloves for me and escorts me In. Due next one in May as I'm on methotrexate and have monthly tests. It was all ok as No one in surgery. X
