Do I need a sick note?

Just spoken with a Gp friend. I need to stay off work as I’m classified as vulnerable and the children are carriers.she said I need to be off work indefinitely . Do I need a sick note? Or some kind of confirmation.Stupidly forgot to ask .

I suspect each work place will have it’s own policy and way forward relating to the coronavirus Best to contact your manager/HR and just ask if they need you to provide a sick note or fit note as they are now called. As a rule we can self certified for an illness for a week and then would need to provide a fit note from the GP. This is of course for standard illness and not specific to the coronavirus. Sorry I appreciate this is not that helpful. I would contact your manager and explain you have been advised to stay off work and just ask what they need.

i would get one so you are covered one way or the other. I have a fit note but it shows reduced hours no standing etc. So I am sure DOc will do ne for you.

Our docs are only taking emergency appointments and have asked not to ring unless absolutely necessary.. don’t think I’ll get a fit note🙄🙄

They will probably do a delayed one after the rush just keep dates or send in a letter to them.
