Emergency Consult....

Saw consultant today after a rough week with the lungs and cough.

So now off MTX until a CAT scan is done to see what is causing the issue as nothing showing up on the normal xray and they need to check in more detail. Also doing some breathing tests.

So back to being on just amoxcillin(just 4 more days) and inhaler, paracetamol, vits and minerals and he is sending my local GP a script for steroids as back up.

His view is my bloods showing MTX is working but I am seeming to be suffering from lots of side affects and I have given it a good go of 5-6months but I am not getting better just in a constant flare. OR I have a lung infection as now getting pain over the left side too.

So once all CAT done he can look at best meds to move forward with.

I am feeling slightly nervous of no meds apart from steroids but I am also hoping this is all sorted within a few weeks and new regime sorted.

Incredibly dehydrated past few days as well.

Hope you get everything sorted huney, I always feel anxious about these meds we take n what side effects we have to deal with 🤷‍♀️ Big hugs xx

I think we all need something and the hidden damage by doing nothing is also to be taken into account. MTX helped in many ways but my body did not like it I feel but many have had great results

Not the drug for you it was becoming more and more obvious.. there are others .. this disease dictates the pace 🥺of our recovery.. your a strong ( stubborn) person you will bounce back x

So sorry you are having such a hard time but at least your consultant is getting appropriate tests done to see why. I do hope the steroids will tide you over until you get a new medication that will work for you. In the meantime take it easy and try to rest. X

I used to love 'The Fast Show', one of the characters was 'Unlucky Alf' (Paul Whitehouse) oh bugger was his catchphrase as he had one disaster after another... I often feel like that 😂 laughter really is a good medicine!

Hoping the scan reveals what's going on Deb. Lung pain can be bloomin painful especially when coughing too, as is usually the case when they are irritated. Well, hopefully whichever new meds are considered you can work with them & they‘ll suit... but were you taking the amoxicillin whilst still on on MTX?

No was told to stop so all good x

Deeb, sorry to hear of this. My specialist nurses usually refer to such setbacks as a ‘wee blip’.

I hope that since the MTX seemed to be working, your health will soon return to a more stable state and it can be resumed or try another DMARD.

You deserve to rest and have some TLC. 🤗

in reply tocharisma

thank you charisma yes a new DMARD on the cards but test first and some down time from treatment before we go hell for leather after this wee blip!

Look after yourself, I had lung issues with sulphasalazine and was unmedicated for a few weeks, but all resolved when I stopped taking it. Hopefully this is the same fir you and you can move forward with a more suitable medication for you.
