I read of so many of you guys on Mtx that have problems the day or two after injecting or taking the tabs but I feel so much better for a few days after my 20mg injection on Wednesday After that it goes downhill rapidly and by Sun/Mon/Tues I'm counting the days to the next one. I've asked if I can up my dose but I wonder if I might be better off splitting the dose.
Does anyone inject twice weekly?

Maggsie work have noticed Iam on FIRE Monday and Tues I take MTX Tues evening drop into fatigue hell even more for 3 days Sat and Sun start getting the body moving again and then BANG Monday I am all over it. Then I start again!
It’s funny how we all react differently. I do notice I start slowing down the day before my injection but I’m hungover the day after 🤷🏽♀️
I’m currently doing a daily symptom diary and that’s one of the things I’m curious about. After several weeks, I’ll look back and see if there was any pattern.
I've not heard of anyone injecting MTX twice weekly though I have with the tablets. I think it was one of our US members, but that was half dose one day half dose the next not as you're thinking half of a Wednesday & half on a Saturday say. It will interesting as of course would cost twice as much with them being one dose pens so don't know if that will have any bearing. Also interesting is your response, in the main it's as you say the day after generally we have the MTX hangover. Anyway the person you need to ask of course is your Rheumy.
I know, I must be 'contrary Mary' as my mum used to say. Don't know whether an increase in dose would help the effect last longer. Will talk to Rheumy to see what they recommend.
I have rarely posted on here but I must admit I am like you describe Maggie. I take 20mg Methotrexate on Wednesday evening, by mid morning Thursday hands are usually nice and wrinkly, everything seems easier movement wise. The slow indication of my RA taking hold was no longer having much use for anti-wrinkle hand cream!
Things get worse fairly rapidly through the next two days until I’m looking forward to my biologic Benepali on Saturday night. That does have a bit of an effect but not as radical as the Methotrexate.
The week when I ran out of MTX in Autumn 2019 because of a cock up over blood tests etc was pretty immediately noticeably much harder and painful, with swelling and stiffness ( moving harder) etc Have been on it since Dec 2015, with Benepali added in March 2017.
I am pleased that I have a noticeable response to it as it justifies to me taking the risks with all the possible side effects. I am also on daily 2g sulphasalasine. If it just affected the fatigue I would think there might be a psychological effect however others comment in my hands changing.
I also took heart from the fact it appears to clear out of my system pretty rapidly giving less time for secondary effects I hope!
Btw, recently I had 2 10mg tablets instead of my 8 2.5mg tablets. I hate the little ones as i frequently choke on them. However the larger tablets sitting in my stomach did make me nauseous so I have gone back to little tablets swallowed more carefully - with my chin down to close my windpipe! Oh the joys of RA management !
I inject on Thursday night, am more tired on Friday, and by Thursday morning, I can't wait to stick myself! I got an intramuscular steroid shot a few weeks back that still has me in good shape.
