Dropping off in the day timej

I am on Methotrexate and also have Sjorgens. I recently fell in our bedroom and couldn’t get up even with my husbands help. Daughter rang the ambulance service who came 8 hours later. Spent the night on the floor.

I have a bruised backside which hurts to walk. Seems to be taking ages to get better. It is now 2 weeks. Have seen a physio and have some exercises to do.I

I sleep very badly at night and keep dropping off in the daytime.

Feeling very depressed with the whole situation.

You say you have seen a physiotherapist what advice did they give?

Are you actually doing the exercises you were given......physio is often painful....but it maybe a case of no pain- no gain.

Give your physio a call & what they say.

in reply toAgedCrone

Yes, I am doing the exercises. I think the nodding off in the daytime is related to not sleeping at night.

You probably have deep tissue bruising & that does take a while to heal.

Keep up the exercises- hope you get some relief soon.

Yes, I think that is what I have. The colourful surface bruising has gone Hopefully the deep tissue bruising will gradually go

It takes a while to get over a shock like falling, so don’t rush it. You should perhaps also go and tell your GP that you have fallen, so they can check any reasons as to why you fell.

Not now, but as soon as you feel a bit better I would encourage you to think about how to make sure this doesn’t happen again. First off, do you know the way that you are most likely to be able to get up, by rolling and pushing not having someone try to pull...here’s an example.

And then think about doing simple exercises to strengthen your core so you can practice getting up from floor. Lots of examples on the internet, like here:

Take it all very gently and slowly, and don’t push yourself. But a couple of minutes a day can make a big difference.

Thank you for your reply. I have seen a doctor. A locum visited in expectedly and suggested I have short term help but I am ok for getting up and getting dressed. I just feel so depressed and useless. Most pain is in my buttocks when I walk( with a frame)

I found the physio very helpful with learning how to get up from the floor safely and also the strengthening exercises for my core strength and legs. The best bit, though, was going to hydrotherapy which helped enormously with building up my muscle strength - though I felt exhausted after each session!

Could your GP help with your sleeping problem? Exhaustion won't be helping you at all. Do you think a mild sedative might help? I should ask.

Not what you're looking for?
