My ongoing flare

Unfortunately, I am continuing to flare. Right hand and wrist and fingers of left hand, huge amount of pain ( bone pain, sharp pains on certain movements, muscular deep achy type pains, almost nerve type pains in fingers). Tried Naproxen but it felt like it wasn’t touching the pain. After 5 days it started to take the edge off and after 8 -10 hrs I could feel the pains increasing again. Seized hands in morning, very weak, unable to do any fine motor type movements, etc. Eventually spoke to clinical nurse and doubled Hydroxychloroquine and prescription for Prednisolone given ( starting dose 20mg). Usually it works instantly and makes me likes Duracell bunny . Day 3 and absolutely no effect and taking a hard hit with the pain as off Naproxen.... argh! Trying everything to distract myself. Had to give in this afternoon and hit the couch for a rest!!! Sorry.... just felt the need to let off steam as was so hopeful the steroids would get it under control. A little disconcerting that the usual methods are not working like normal. Continue on the Benepali but they have talked about reviewing my meds 😬. I have never flared for this long and am disappointed as was believing the Benepali was getting it well under control. Rheumatologist app early April.... I plod on ( through gritted teeth).

Hi Deniseelk

Sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time, I completely understand, I have had a very bad RA flare too, since this January, I was prescribed prednisone too, for 3 weeks, but took at least two and a half weeks before I started to feel some relief, but I was still having severs pain in both hands, wrists and fingers, it was also affecting my legs and ankles and had difficulty walking, it has been my worst flare!!! I have had RA for 15 years now, I think 🤔 I felt better when I was on Enbrel, I am into my 3rd year on Benepali!! Thinking it may not be as effective as it was, I had 4 weeks off work, and had some very down days, I hope that this makes you feel a little better, you are not alone love, and I hope that you are feeling better very soon,

X

Awww! Sorry your feeling rotten, what I do in your situation is to take two Tramadol alongside two paracetamol, take myself to bed 🛌 with a cuppa☕️ electric blanket on and play some relaxation music 🎧 (try you tube) ahhhh bliss!! Give it a try! It really helps me and I never feel guilty about taking time out. Hope it helps! 🤗 X
