Finally got a diagnosis

Hi, I thought I would update you all with the latest news on my health. I went to see the consultant today after reviewing all my diagnostics results. She was annoyed that the previous doctor said that there was nothing wrong or for me to worry about. She diagnosed me with inflammatory arthritis and asked me to take Sulfasalazine again. Last time the side effects were terrible so this time I was asked to take only 1 tablet the 1st week and then 2 for the following 3 weeks. I feel relieved to get answers and fingers crossed that this works.

Thank you to everyone for the love and support x

That's good you seem to have had a positive experience with the new consultant. I hope the side effects are not too bad, do give it a go, but if things don't settle do get back in touch with your rheumatologist.

Hi ms-d, thankfully you got a consultant who listened to you today and that you have started treatment again. When I first tried sulfasalazine I felt it didn't agree with me so I stopped it after 8 weeks. However I took a horrible flare so rheumatologist told me to go back on it. So second time round I've had no side effects so I hope this is the case for you. Wishing you well!

I didnt tolerate it last time and suffered panic attacks, swollen glands you name it. If it doesnt work this time then its biologics. Thank you and hope you feel better x

Sounds ridiculous congratulations on finally getting the answers you need to this disease but I believe it's important we know so we can have some sense of control and understanding, cause sometimes people who don't understand write 'us' off as crazy and attention seeking. With knowledge comes the power to make changes to help ourselves. I am happy for you and good luck in the future.

Thank you so much. Do not give up as i nearly did and thought its in my head. Todays been a bit rough with the meds as feeling nauseous and dizzy. Will see how i get on. But hope you get what you are looking for x

Unfortunately the meds are pretty toxic and side effects is the price but once they get the right combination things are so much better. I wish you well and hope effects disappear soon.x
