It can be I think. It should go in 24 hrs . You can take paracetamol

In the meantime . It’s called a steroid flare and can be even worse than the original pain . Hope it settles x

Yeah... it’s worse than the actual pain of inflammation. Ahhhh it’s been 48 hours now and it’s still on....

Also, I feel more sciatica pain...

I think the dr really went up close to the sciatic nerve and irritated it. Daym im screwed :(

Okay...

So after your kind post, I read about steroid flares. Daym! That’s what I have and I really think he injected it really close to my sciatic nerve or somehow frikking irritated it ;(

I wanna cry.... this is painful

Mine never hurt other than injection going in? It is usually mixed with an anesthetic component, and if you have a big ass like mine that's probably why it doesn't hurt?

Oh my gosh...I can imagine! I have a disc herniation and when it was pushing on my sciatica... It was insane! And the pain down my entire leg... If this feels worse--whoa! Id give your doc a call and just say, what the hell? Maybe next time he/she can be more careful!!

Yeah... I’ve been through that pain and believe me I can relate.

How long did it take for your disc herniation to stop bothering your sciatic nerve?

I did visit the doctor again and he said that this is steroid side effect and nobody can tell when or when not it can come.

I’m just trying to rest now and allowing my nerve and muscles to calm down.

Any other tips?

I went about treatment another way, I was seeing a specialist who would manipulate, adjust, massage, and then put me on DRX machine which decompresses your spine.

I did this for about 5 months, and basically stopped all my working out. I think it was the weightlifting that ultimately killed my disc. And I think it was no more working out that finally gave me some relief too. It took about 2 years to finally calm down.

Sometimes I get a little shock of pain if I dont sit right and I cant imagine going back to those days. Interesting enough when my RA started last year, I had sciatica in both legs! I think I was all around an inflammatory mess!

Wishing you the best.

Thanks for the reply.

I did weight lifting as well and I am sure that’s the cause of my disc herniation as wel.

Well, I am having my spine decompressed as well with the traction machine. Taking some medicines.

I haven’t tried the massage and chiropractor kind of stuff yet but I am sure it would be helpful.

Oh wow! 2 years?!!! Well my sciatica symptoms have cooled down but I got a flare last week after the steroid injection. I’m not too sure what this is tbh.. :(

Posture is absolutely important to maintain with this disc herniation so keep your posture straight :)

OwwWwW 😫 , Alisheikalisheikh! 😩

When the injection pain/ ‘steroid flare’ subsides, maybe some of these ‘Exercises for Sciatica' from NHS ( nhs.uk/Livewell/Backpain/Pa... ) might help alleviate some of the sciatic pain? 🤔

I met up with a neurologist today. He looked at my MRI and was shocked to see the 12mm thing sticking out.

He suggested surgery based on the fact that when I cough, laugh or speak loudly, I feel pain.

I insisted to wait a little bit longer and he gave me 1 week time to get better with cough lower back pain and 2 weeks in total to feel well otherwise he is putting me under a knife.

I’m in too much pain :(
