pain after injection
As far as I’m aware yes you can take painkillers with steroid injection and sadly subcut steroids only worked for me on two occasions; then stopped working. I feel your pain. X
My first subcut steroid injection was like someone had waved a magic wand. All pain disappeared! Next one was nowhere near as effective, but was definitely better than before injection. Subsequent ones seem to have had little or no effect.
Glad I’m not alone in this. It’s a shame isn’t it? I even changed steroid type. Again new one worked once…😔
The oral steroids don't seem to work on me either 🤷 can't understand it.
Maybe your problem isn't inflammation as a steroid should work on any pain caused by inflammation.
yes, you definitely can take any analgesics with the steroid injection. It does advise caution with oral steroids and nsaids, due to both irritating the stomach. The injection bypasses that do is fine.
Only once I've ever had relief after a steroid jab. Oral steroids work best for me but I only have a low dose to take the edge off when really needed
Depo-Medrone steroid injection in the buttocks always worked for me when having a bad flare up, Diclofenac I personally wouldn't want to take I'm not saying it doesn't work but side affects can be too severe and risky, I've been in complete remission no flare ups or pain for 5 years, I credit MTX the major reason for that, I suffered over the years and now have a deformed right hand but it doesn't stop me doing anything, I'm a keen golfer and play twice a week, good luck for the future.
Interesting to hear. What condition do you suffer from? I'm due to start MTX for PSA.Steroid injections always work for me. It takes about a week.
Suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis for years had flare ups that put me in hospital, MTX helped to control it and combined with biological meds the symptoms gradually disappeared, I now have a blood test every 6 months and the results are always good, I have plenty of experience with meds prescribed for the condition over the years, I have a hiatal hernia which I believe is the result of taking diclofenac in fact it's the one medication I advise my friends and family to avoid, also there's no history in my family of diabetes I'm the correct wieght for age and size but I'm now a diabetic thanks to years of being prescribed steroids, so obviously medication does work but there's nearly always a price to pay, to be honest I still feel very lucky I'm active playing golf on a stiff walking course that's over a 5 mile walk twicea week, so sometimes you've got to hang in there and keep your fingers crossed, good luck for the future.
Steroid injections are only ever a temporary solution to reduce pain for a few weeks but while a long term solution is found and when they are they used in this way they are usually effective. Most pain killers have side effects or become addictive so take care. I hope you find a longer term solution
Again thanks for all replies. 🤗 hopefully pain will ease soon 🙏🏻
I felt worse after my steroid injection and then on day five I woke up completely pain free and has lasted nearly a month before I start methotrexate again and to be honest I would rather have the steroids. Hopefully you will start to feel the benefit.
Yes it's fine. I had a steroid last Tuesday and it's only started working now. When did you have it?
had injection 5 days ago, pain has eased so hopefully get better each day. I’m only on Benapali was on mtx but had to come off it as it made me feel so ill. 😩
