I believe it is a government payment available in the UK. If you are in Canada it is called EI and the disability payment is called CPPD . Not sure what the government disability payment is called in the States.

Does SS have another link for disability? In Cannada CPP (Canadian Pension Plan) is what you get at the age of 60. If you are disabled you can get CPPD (Canadian Pension Plan Disability} at any age as long as you worked 4 years.

PIP (Personal Independence Payment) is a benefit in the UK intended to help pay for anything to help keep us as independent as possible. NRAS (the site you're on) is a UK based charity & why you'll see many posts on the subject. As you're in the US this benefit obviously isn't applicable to you but if our other US based members see this or if you write another post asking for help for re benefits in the US they may be able to help with what's available to you.
