Hello everyone, I’ve got a telephone app tomorrow regarding pip, I’m quite anxious about it , it’s my first time applying.
Just wondering what kinds of questions they will ask. Or any tips ?
Thanks 🙏

Hi is it a assessment or tribunal, I had to go to tribunal but had no bother other than the wait to go
It’s an assessment
Hi. Pink plum
They will ask the same questions as the application form answer these questions as if it is your WORST DAY. Try and get across how the disease has changed your life physically and mentally. How fatigue effects you and if your confidence has been knocked. Mention this is a systemic and progressive disease. If you have a copy of your application reread it so you can familiarise yourself with the answers. Don’t be afraid to show your emotion and if you can record your assessment just in case you need to go to mandatory . I was refused on my F2f and I got a copy of the assessment if didn’t resemble my interview at all an I was able to counter argument everything with confirmation from my nurse. Good luck let us know how you get on.
Ps I believe the phone assessments have been more successful than the f2f.
Also if can have someone supporting you they can also say this disease effects you.
Thank you very much J1707 , I’m going to read over everything again. I’ll be glad when it’s over to be honest. X
Yes it is stressful. But remember your worst day how your mobility swelling fatigue and was. It’s the little things when I went to mandatory I was asked do you have problems going to the toilet. My assessor I think was a doctor who certainly understood this disease said are you sure think. The only thing I could think was when I’m stiff especially during the night and I need the toilet I’m so stiff I lower and lift myself on and off the toilet by holding onto the radiator. I have done it for so long it has become part of the norm. Assessor said then you do have problems. It’s often the little things that help x
Thank you x
I’ve got my telephone one on Thursday. I’ve printed my form and added any changes that have happened since because things have got worse. Good luck. Don’t make how awful things are sound better or ok I think.
Hope it goes well for you 😊
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow. Let us know how it goes 🤞🏻
I will do 😊
I found my PIP by phone really good and not as daunting as I was expecting. It was clear you had to speak slowly and not be over wordy as she said she had to type things in so wanted short simple effective answers. I made sure I spoke about my worse days all the way through which made it easier too. Good luck (I did cry when we discussed how life had changed socially and work wise but again empathy was there)
Thank you 😊
Hi PinkPlum This is a very good help site which has helped me over the years. benefitsandwork.co.uk
Agree with all the answers. Just wanted to wish you luck.
Good luck for today! Describe your worst days and don't say some are better than others.
Good luck Pinkplum. I agree with the good advice given by J1707 and the others.
They will ask how your condition affects you the impact on your daily life, tell them everything and you should be ok. I found it helpful to have my answer to hand that I filled in on the form, and add any changes. I also looked on you tube to see how other people had found assessment. The telephone call took about half an hour and wasn't near as bad as I was expecting. I think it was about three weeks later I received letter to say I'd been awarded pip.
If you are holding the phone they record how long it takes you to swap hands. Hope all goes well for you, to be honest it didn't for me though as I had my money reduced by 140.00 per month, even though I sent them records of my hospital visit last year. Gutted, I contacted welfare rights and they said to be honest what your getting is a good amount and you risk losing what you've got now if you go to tribunal. I said I told them the absolute truth and was shocked when his reply was, doesn't always pay to do that!
That’s disgraceful that they think it’s ok to lie and are telling people this. I’m shocked too, it’s fraud. I don’t doubt that people lie to get PIP but to encourage it is not on😡
Hi KittyJ, I was taken aback by his response and decided not to appeal because he said Id risk losing what I was getting now which was good in terms of the amount. I remember getting a phone call on the Friday morning and she said I'm calling you about your interview assessment on Monday. I said what interview, what assessment? She replied you should've had a letter or text by now. I told her I'd had nothing of the sort but funnily enough after that call on the same day I received the letter and the text. Hmm... Also normally it takes a few weeks to sort were as mine was done and dusted within a week. Now I'm struggling with the financial loss. It seems that having tried to lose some weight to help my joints and to preserve my mental health, by getting out in my drive and doing some gentle stretches etc, I was punished. Even after I sent medical evidence of a visit to hospital in November suffering from flu and a chest infection. Keeping down the masses is prevalent in government!
Had mine last Thursday and it lasted over two hours! She was very nice, but it was an interrogation, far worse than last time when it was a standard face to face at home. I think it's much easier when they can see you. By the end I was making light of things just so that I could get off the phone. Good luck!
May I ask what is wrong with you that makes you think you will get PIP
Here you go marybruen, Pinkplum may not want to through her pip claim on here so here is the info
“You must be aged 16 or over and usually have not reached State Pension age to claim.
You must also have a health condition or disability where you:
have had difficulties with daily living or getting around (or both) for 3 months
expect these difficulties to continue for at least 9 months”
Hi, lot’s of good advice. I was a CA advisor for many years and I will underline the use of the appeals system. Appeals were highly successful. Don’t be put off if you are turned down at the first stage. Good luck.
Thanks everyone for advice.
I was on the phone for an hour, they do keep asking the same questions throughout the call it’s like they are trying to catch you out.
I think it’s very unfair what they put you through.
She was very nice but then that’s there job.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Bet you feel relieved that it’s over🤞🏻
Definitely glad it’s over 😊
How did you get on pinkplum did you get a decision yet?
