Very possibly. Maybe worth a trip to gp or a call to rhuemy nurse? Keep it elevated and rest up.

Deejojo, good thing you took that picture. Your rheumatologist or rheumie nurse needs to see it. I've probably missed a memo, but have you been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis? If so, it wouldn't surprise me if that were what's causing the swelling. It looks so sore. How often has this happened to you?

Take good care: rest and elevation like on the picture, and cold if you can. Let us know how things proceed.

That looks so painful 😖

Same colour nail polish as me.

OUCH! 😕 Keep it elevated.

We have a matching pair Denise... except my toe nails are French polished! I've put mine down to the weather, my GP concurred, it's so humid following the rain. I'd have your GP take a look too if you're worried it'll worsen over the weekend. Meantime you could try a cold compress & keep it up as I see you are, see if it'll help the swelling at least.

Hi Deejojo. Good grief but that looks sore. My feet and ankles have been blowing up to twice their normal size too but uncomfortable rather than painful. I put it down to the 37°C heat we have been having here on holiday. So elevation, rest and cooling until you can see someone about it could be a plan. I hope it goes down and stops hurting very soon. Big hugs

Hi Deejoo,

I hope you're feeling better today.

I don't want to tell you anything that you haven't already heard but 90% of the immune system is controlled by the gut. Acute swelling like this in Rheumatoid Arthritis is linked to an extreme food sensitivity.

I am concerned that the swelling might be present because you are eating something everyday which is triggering this response in your body.

It looks like you're in agony and I just hate to see you in this much pain and I wish that I could take it away.

Remember that Doctors and Rheumatologists don't always make for the best Nutritionists and they certainly don't have time to keep up to date with the latest Scientific research in their field. Here are some medical studies on the topic so that you can make your own mind up:
