Foot Pain and numbness: Hi All Just come on here again... - NRAS
Foot Pain and numbness
Hi Penny, my RA pain is in my feet - the pain is debilitating where I can't walk. I have to go round on all fours 😬at times. I find putting my feet under cold water and resting up, taking a pain med, right now I am sticking to 5mg of Prednisone a day, has got me moving. I also massage with a massage oil, and use Epsom salt baths too. The pain subsides somewhat after a couple of day. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Hessie
Jeepers Hessie, the pain in my feet has been so debilitating that it's been an ordeal walking from room to room in my house, but thankfully has yet to reach the stage of me needing to crawl around on all fours! That sounds dreadful!
Hi Wishbone - it’s the inflammation from RA caused Tibialis Posterior Tendinopathy sadly. The Pred is helping dampen down the inflammation for now. It's crazy when I think how I would be running around everywhere - as said it's the new me. Hope all’s good for you. Hessie
Bloody RA, it's just one thing after another with it! Are there any particular meds, other than steroids, that are used to treat your TPT?
I'm doing ok thanks, I'm still on baricitinib, which you've stopped taking I believe. Unfortunately, due to stomach issues I've had to stop HCQ, which was working well as a back-up to baricitinib. My RA is a bit worse since I've come off it, but I'm still in better shape than I've been for over 2 years so can't complain too much.
Hi Hessie5 Thanks for your reply, it got really bad today and visited urgent care had x ray and found I had a chip on bone which I never knew I had done as my feet are always so numb now I have been given a boot to wear for a couple of months - result! so glad I went and I do wish you well with your pain and can get some further help. Take care
The same thing happened to me Penny. Who would have thought that a chip could be so painful. I had to wear a boot as well and it healed. It was incredibly painful.
Hope you heal quickly. xx
Oh thanks Rosie at least I know it will heal but as you say it is really painfull,
Apart from that bone chip, I know what it is like at the end of the day with the RA , I feel like i have knives in my feet... so yes its hard to tell when something else goes wrong. I am recovering from a fractured ankle and i am at the stage now that i am not sure if the pain is the RA or the healing fracture. I am unable to take my RA meds while i am healing as i have a wound from the fracture as well.
Last night i had the knives in my feet feeling and thought "This is very familiar" and realised when the ankle heals I will still have to face RA.
I am so grateful i live with my son as I probably would live on toast and boiled eggs. lol.
Once again hoping you have a speedy recovery.
Rosie .x
Thanks Rosie, Hope you too have a speedy recovery if that is possible I just think RA never really goes away and not sure anything helps much as I secretly would love to chuck all meds away and see what happens but oh well I will probably still carry on and wait for foot to heal and will be so glad when I get rid of the boot. Good Luck
Hi IV had something similar it's called Morton neuroma it's like little benign tumor on the nerve IV had operations on both feet it's worth asking about it XX good luck xx
Hi, same for me. I still manage to get about but the foot pain and numbness can be a big problem. Nothing to do but rest up for a bit. Its a bummer.
Which part of your foot? I have recently had a neuroma removed which caused all your symptoms. I too have a dog and need and want to go out daily and have found my painful feet extremely disabling. Get them seen to asap as without your feet u r stuck!
Thanks Cheylann, Have found out I have a chipped bone so now have a boot on till it repairs itself so much easier to walk on :))
