RA and swollen axillary nodes
Hi suzanne , i have primary sjogrens with muscle and joint pain . When i was diagnosed 18 mths ago my lymph nodes were all enlarged, particularly my axillary lymph nodes . I feeling very ill and totally exhausted 24/7 , my muscles were painful and i could bear to be touched and my joints in hands and feet were painful , i felt like i was walking on gravel. I started on plaquenil with limited success and i have now had 2 rituximab infusions which have made a real difference, lymph nodes have gone down and much more energy . I did have a lymph node biopsy while doctor was coming up with diagnosis and will need this checked out again in future. Are you on any treatment yet ?
Hi thank you so much for your reply, ive never joined any community messages before. No so far have only been diagnosed by GP via extremely high RA factor and feet xrays, have rheumatology appointment on 7th August, nice long wait. I do have mammogram and quite surely node biopsy booked for the 20th June. My pain is mainly in my foot, just one, which is constant and quite painful, both shoulders which comes and goes, one elbow which is pretty much constant and one wrist on and off. Wouldnt describe foot pain as walking on gravel would describe more like a broken foot, am limping and can not bend my little or first toe, when my shoulder pain in there however I can not touch this its awful. I have had this for a few years in my elbows and shoulders and have just put it down to work and being busy, but I am only 46 but when I felt the nodes thats what took me to my GP. I did see Sjogrens come up when I was googling but didnt feel I had any of the other accompanying symptoms, other than exhaustion and fatigue. I think I will be able to focus a little more on looking after myself and dealing with what i probably have when the mammogram and nodes have been checked. Thank you again.
Hi suzanne , it is a very stressful time waiting for a diagnosis. I was passed around 4 different consultants before I seen a rheumatologist. I hope all goes well with the tests so you can get started on treatment. Try to pace yourself in the meantime and rest when you can . I can see you are worried but arm yourself with knowledge and ask lots of questions . I didn't at the time as my mind wasn't quite focused. Best wishes xx
