RA/Fibro and swollen hip

Hi guys,

I'm experiencing pain when I stand or walk or sit in my lower back. I first noticed it last Saturday when we watched the Tour de Yorkshire. We had to walk for about 15 mins then stand and watch them whizzing past then walk back. Since then I get twinges and the pain is awful. Sometimes it feels like cramp, and I try to stretch slowly but can't move and have to breathe slow shallow breaths. I've now got swelling over my left hip. Does anyone have a similar issue! Could it be bursitis? I've attached a photo (please excuse the PJ's! but comfort trumps fashion)

Thanks for reading.

Gentle hugs. X

I'd pop along to see your GP about the swelling,

Probably nothing, but best to get it checked out.

I think I might! It's the only part of my body that was ok!! Hopefully it's just me doing too much.

Make sure you call your doctor to follow up on this. It could be several things. Please don't wait around till it get worse.

I've had very similar issues turned out to be bursitis as well as other issues. I got an injection into the bursa and it'sdefinitely helped, that part anyway. I completely agree with others though... i hope you get or have gotten it checked out... I do believe the hip bursa is lower than where your swelling is... love your pj's btw, mine are my best friend some days😉

Hi Jean, I love my PJs too! Im having an ultrasound on Saturday and I think it's bursitis. Hopefully it can be fixed quite quickly. Thus weather is too nice to be in pain.

Update for you. I had my ultrasound scan and apparently the locum thought it was a Lipoma! It isn't!! Kidneys are fine, so all's well in that department. It's still there and can't get a good appointment until end of June.

Oh well I'll keep taking the tablets.

Gentle hugs.

Hi Louise, how are you doing? My daughter has something similar. I took her to the doctor and she had x-ray and blood tests and it did not show any serious condition. I'm wondering if the swollen goes away.

I was searching "hip swelling" and found your post. This picture is the closest thing I've found to the swelling I've been having, along with difficulty walking and lots of pain. Did you ever get a diagnosis? If so, do you mind sharing what the problem was/is?

are you still suffering with this?? My exact thought was wow this is the closest picture I can find similar to what I’m experiencing. Doctors aren’t sure. Had hernia surgery. Hasn’t improved. Can you tell me if you have had any luck?
