Can you tell me if painful swollen lypth nodes is common in RA?

I have one under my arm, I do have an appointment this week with doc and will ask about it also.

Thanks :)

Swollen lymph nodes are quite common in people with systemic disease such as RA, Lupus etc. Just another area of the body that can be affected by inflammation! Usually more noticeable, in my experience, when other areas are inflamed too and consistent with general inflammation levels.

Worth getting it checked out though for peace of mind ;)

Hi Wiliby, I have had them just recently and like Lyn said they are quite poplar with systemic disease. I did get them checked out properly by GP who sent me to the breast clinic for ultrasound etc just to confirm.

Better safe than sorry so I'd get them checked.

Ive suffered for these for years before I was diagnosed with RA (however GP thinks I was misdiagnosed for at least 5 years)

I was reffered to the breast clinic and because off maternal history of breast cancer I am now on a 6 month check up at the breast clinic with the nurse just for a scan and when I reach 35 I will have yearly mamograms as apparently I have a 40% chance off getting breast cancer, but Ive just got to see it as a 60% chance off not getting it.

Thank you,

I will mention it but it does put my mind at rest knowing it's all part of RA.

Wow Julie, that odds aren't great but what a great attitude to have! :)

do still get it checked angela especially if just one armpit .?. best to be safe x
