It's been 4 years since I've had RA (was diagnosed at 24 y.o.) Even though I've tried several treatments schemes, my RA is still active and it seems to get more severe. But what worries me is that I have multiple swollen lymph nodes, especially in the neck. Sometimes they hurt and sometimes they seem to fluctuate in size.
In April I have an appointment at a Rheumatic Disease Center for a full checkup, but until then, I was wondering if anyone with RA has ever experienced such worrisome symptoms.

Have exactly the same problem. Recent visit to a renal consultant didn’t seem to bothered, but as put it on the report to my Doctor, I now take 23 tablet’s a day for various problems.
I didn't have the Pfizer jab, so that's out of the question.
I agree with you on getting a medical opinion and not relying on others' experience, but I've noticed that this disease is so complex and patients sometimes have different systemic symptoms that doctors don't fully understand.
That's why I wanted to see if any RA sufferer can relate to this.
I agree with Lola to get checked out by your GP and don’t wait for your rheumy. I’ve never had this happen but that doesn’t mean it can’t but always best to get things like this checked out. Let us know how you go 😊
I have had RA for twenty years and diagnosed Fibromyalgia for 4 years. I have a swollen lymph node on the left of my neck which appeared about 5 years ago. I had it fully investigated but as you say sometimes it is more pronounced and makes that area and my jaw line uncomfortable and I sometimes feel it when swallowing. No one could give me a reason but I believe it is connected to my RA as it usually is most noticeably when I feel unwell and having a flare. Hope you have better luck than me in getting an answer, make sure you get it checked.
My lymph nodes also make me uncomfortable sometimes. Even though no one could tell you the exact cause, I assume that if there was something serious, doctors would have told you...so, at least you don't have to worry about this.
Hi Cosana, I would get it checked with your Gp don't wait till your rheumy appo, I speak from experience, best wishes Sarah 💕 💕
Morning. I remember having very painful areas near my Lymph glands. I think it was put down to Fibromyalgia in the end. Sorry I have a hazy memory so can’t be more accurate. Maybe do some reading up on Fibro to see if any light bulbs come on x
Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this! I have already talked about this to my GP, but she thinks it's just one of the extra-articular manifestations of RA. She didn't seem to be too concerned about this. So I guess I just have to wait until further investigations, but I have to admit I made the mistake to check this on "Dr. Google" and this hasn't helped me too much, since it made me think of the worst possible causes. I'll keep you posted when I have news from the rheumy.
hi Cosana, I’ve recently experienced the same symptoms you describe here, did you ever receive an explanation for the swelling and pain and most importantly did you receive effective treatment? Many thanks, Lin
