Hiya all. Another quick question. Does anyone have problems with their bowls. I get stomach ache when I need to go and on several occasions I don't make it. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem

Yes!! And I got reminds me of a story of when I was a student nurse. I had to write an essay of what you might need to look after someone after an operation. I wrote have a sick bowel beside the bed ! Meaning sick bowl ! My tutor never let me live it down lol 😂

Yes I do, but I discovered I have diverticular disease, which is odd really since I am a veggie and eat nothing but roughage!

I have eventually managed to get a balance (usually) between the azothiaprine (methotrexate caused the same problem) which causes diarrhoea, and the codeine I take for the pain which causes constipation! So most of the time I'm OK.

But ask your medical team for advice and help in case it's not just the drugs you take!

Hall jacki!. It sounds to me like irritable bowel syndrome which is a non-life-threatening condition but nevertheless very distressing. You should see a doctor and get this checked. Good luck and best wishes.

Hi, I would expect there can be many reasons for bowel problems, but in my experience I cannot help wondering if there is a link between the inflammatory process in the joints and the bowel?

Just prior to my RD diagnosis I had awful GI problems with significant weight loss. I felt like I was allergic to everything I ate. Eventually I discovered going stricktly gluten free has worked for me. It took a long time and sometimes I have an odd mistake, but when my body quickly reminds me.

Note: you can have blood test to check, but I had already taken gluten out of my diet and couldn't face going back! The doctor also offered a scope to take a biopsy, but I didn't volunteer for that either.

So I'm not the best patient, but I would advise that you discuss with your doctor, to get it checked out. I didn't appreciate just how important your gut is until it's not working properly!!
