Foot pain on top of foot

I don't know if this is where I need to be or not. I have an appointment next week with a Rhumatologist. I have pain in my foot every time I walk. It's on the top of my foot, so a podiatrist says it's a stress fracture. However, it's been 10 weeks, and walking still hurts, no matter what shoe or sandal I wear.

I have a nerve problem in my back and have numb spots on both of my feet. Am I going to see the correct Doctor, my nerve Doctor is the one sending me.

Hi Sharonbeth

That's how my arthritis started....tops of feet and so painful to walk.

Following MRI scans of feet and hands I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis.

It's good that you are seeing a rheumatologist who can do all the necessary tests. It may well be a stress fracture which will take time to heal however, good that you are getting checked out.

Good luck and let us know how you get on x

Maybe an idea to check your vitamin B12 levels, B12 deficiency is linked to spine degeneration and can affect right down to the feet.

I have sinovitis in the joints under my toes caused by arthritis and this also gives me a very tender pain across the top of my foot, running up from my toes. It's so bad sometimes that it's even sensitive when anything touches it and makes shoe wearing and walking very difficult.

Getting checked by the rheumatologist is a good thing - if it's not caused by that you can then rule it out. My arthritis started in feet and hands.

Good luck.

Definitely get checked by the rheumatologist - never turn down an appointment, it may take a long time to get another! They may well be able to rule out arthritis, and if not you're in the right place.

Good luck ☺

I went to the Rhumatologist today. He told me the stress fracture had healed, but the fracture and the diabetes has caused the inflamed arthritis in my foot. He examined me and listened to me. He told me the doctor that referred me was correct to send me to him. He gave me a shot in my foot and a salve to put on it 4 times a day to get the inflammation down. Told me to stay off it for 2 days. Problem is, the shot has made my whole foot hurt instead of just the area it was. Will see if feels better after the 2 days. Follow up in a month. Thank you all for your advice and concern.
