Pain in back of ankles and the side of foot

Hi hope everybody is well. I've just started with pain in the back of my ankles every morning and on the side of my foot near the bridge of foot, does anybody else have this? I seem to limp wth it when I walk. I take 4 500 mg sulfasalazine, with one 200mg htdroxychoriquine a day, thanks. Lady B 😊xxx

Hi ladybrunette, sorry to hear of your pain. Yes I have that foot pain. Each morning feels like that. I found that a few hours and it reduces, do you find that?

I've almost learned to switch my brain off to foot pain. I had a very bad limp (more like dragging a foot behind me) for around 6 months until I had a local steroid injection. I wish I'd had it sooner as I have put my back out from limping lol.

If you have localised swelling redness etc then asking about an injection might be good. I'm glad I had mine

Best of luck

Xx

Hi LadyB, I am interested to read your responses as I am taking the extact dose of sulfa and 400 mg hydroxy a day. I also woke up the last couple of mornings with pain on the top of my foot near the bridge. I seem to limp for about 5 mins before it gets better...I just assumed it was a cramp....I hope i'm right...I see my rheumy in november.

Take care

Sue

Thanks for your reply, I know it is very annoying, not sure if my medication needs to be increased, sorry to here of everybody else's pain to, I will ask about it this week at my appointment with the nurse, thanks. Lady B😊xxx

I do recall sulfasalazine can take 3 to 6 months to fully kick in. How long have you been at your full dose?

in reply to

Hi suzanndale, I've been at full 4 tablets of sulfasalazine for about 4 to 5 weeks, all together been on it I would say about 2 months, I never thought of this, they do say can take 3 to 6 moths to have affect, thanks sue for that, maybe just give it a bit more time. Thank you very much, lady B😊xxx

Hi LadyB, when my doctor increased my dose to 4 tablets of sulfa, he said I would have to wait another 6 to 12 weeks before I noticed any benefits. I've just started week 7 of 4 tablets daily and I do now notice the benefits, though my hands are still swollen. To tell you the truth, my swelling has gone down, but I still see the swelling....I think I was hoping that at week 6 the swelling would be gone!!!

Just got to wait a little longer I guess. Pease keep me updated. We'll get through this!!! :)

Take care
