I think you might. Why dont you phone the department and share your worries? They were very kind to me when I had my hands done.
Try not to worry Saxon, as I see it a scan is like a donut where only the part that is to be scanned is in the donut. I think what you are thinking of is a MRI in which you do need to go into a tunnel like machine, but even so it is not too bad, all you have to do is to tell the staff how you feel. After saying that as I said at the beginning you will be fine it really is like a donut. I do hope you get the result you wish for. Take care.
Hi, I had an MRI on both knees a couple of months ago and only my knees went in. My head was on the outside just at the opening of the tunnel. You normally get a buzzer to hold in case of a panic attack etc. They had to be done one at a time. Hope all goes well. Smiler x
I was feet first when I had my knee done in the MRI scanner therefore head was out. It is very noisy but you have headphones. Make sure you are comfy (well as much as you can be) before you start as you have to be still a long time. Farm
What kind of scan are you having? Ultrasound? MRI? CT/CAT?
The kind of machine depends on the type of scan.
I was feet first for my knees. Don't know if machines are different though.
If i am correct your legs will be the only thing that goes into the scanner. Don't worry as the staff will take great care of you.xxx
You can arrange a visit to see your scanner so give them a ring. Often for knees your head doesn't need to be in especially on a CAT scan but I share your pain I too am very claustrophobic. your go may give you an anti anxiety pill to take before the scan . Good luck
