Cool bag for Enbrel advise

Hi

I am due to start Enbrel injections next week and as I travel for work I have been told that I can carry them in a cool bag with an ice insert and wondered if anyone could recommend a cool bag that they already use.

Hi Taji,

Some of our members have recommended the medicool cool bags. They are marketed for insulin carrying but can be used for any medication that needs to be kept within the same temperature range as insulin. I have put a link to the site where you can buy them below:

Hope this helps

There's also this company. My husband uses it when we go away on holiday.

Hi Taji, I had to ask. I think I heard about it off of the DVD that I got when I started injecting.

Not sure about the Frio products for our medications. They are designed for insulin which just needs to be kept cool ie under 20C Frio products easily achieve this. My Cimzia has toto be kept below 8C and my researches suggest Frio could not do this.

I have used a flat lunch pack style cool bag (Lakeland do some good quality ones) with an ice block. I wrapped the medication in bubble wrap to protect it from the initial extreme cold of the block coming out of the freezer.

I did some experiments before I travelled using a digital thermometer, also from Lakeland. I found my larger block made the pack too cold and would have frozen my Cimzia and found a smaller one would keep the Cimzia cool for 10 hours.

I used one of these for travelling with Humira. They are approved for use by most airlines.

i use a small picnic insulated bag with a small ice block which I wrap up so as not to have the Enbrel up against it which could freeze it.
