Cool pillow suggestions please!

I really need to find a cool pillow - I have suffered with a sweaty head for as long as I can remember, although my bod often stays fresh as a daisy(!) 🌼 I am getting really fed up waking up to damp hair and a soggy pillow every morning, even though the weather here has been considerably cooler for weeks now. I’ve been using a latex pillow for a number of years as I find it gives good support, but now wondering if it’s making the moistness worse!

I’ve been reading reviews of some very expensive pillows, but they’re all a bit contradictory, so I’m wary of splashing out on something that may or may not help. I’ve already got a cooling gel pad, which is great for an instant refresher, but it’s not something you can sleep on all night.

So if anyone’s got any tried and tested recommendations, I’d be really grateful before I melt into a puddle of perspiration! 😓😓

I think the latex pillow would be making things worse. I tried one a while ago and I didn’t find it comfortable, but I did also notice it was very hot. I suffer from all over hotness in the night and wake in the morning with frizzy weird hair but I can only sleep with a proper feather pillow which I find comfy for my neck. I take it when I go on holiday!

I tried a feather pillow a few years and dont remember it being particularly comfortable - I think the filling moved about a bit, so it lost support during the night. I’m pretty sure I’ve still got the other one of the pair and give it another go (I have a collection of tried and discarded pillows!).

That sounds interesting - do you wear it while sleeping to stay dry? I see they come in different fabrics - cotton, microfibre - which do you use? I have short hair and often look like Worzel Gummidge when I get out of bed in the morning. Dead sexy! 😂😂

😂😂😂😂

Chill max slim pillow: was £9.99 in Robert Dyas; stays cool a while but you can also put in fridge prior to use if it starts to lose its oomph. I used in heatwave to get to sleep but also good for wrapping around sore limbs x

I’ve got one of those, but find it just a bit too cold to sleep on, although it’s great for cooling me down if I’m feeling overheated - I keep it on my bed and often use it for a while after I wake up to cool me down a bit before I get out of bed, but haven’t found it comfortable to actually sleep on.

I think you can put them inside pillow too but might still be too cold for you x

I’m going to try putting it into both the pillowslip and the pillow protector and see how that feels - anything’s worth a try!

Good luck 😉

As far as I can make out all the pillows advertised as "cool pillows" are in fact gel inserts.

A friend paid £40 thinking he would get a full size " cool pillow" & he received a 15" square gel insert to put inside the pillowslip.

He did get a refund & bought 2 £10 gel inserts & says they work fine.

As you have probably seen there is quite a selection on Amazon.

I'm sure a latex pillow will be making things worse....think how hot your feet get in trainers with latex foam soles!

Good point re latex soles! I’ve seen an assortment of pillows recommended on google, then when I click on the links, discover they’re only available on US sites - very frustrating! I think I might try using a feather pillow again, and put the chillmax insert into both the pillowslip and the pillow protector and see how that feels.
