I have travelled with Enbrel for some years in a cool bag but it only lasts a day. I have heard of a bag which holds enbrel pre-filled syringes which lasts for 48 hours which is available in USA. Anyone know of one available here?

Hi Julie do you have the link please? I have been searching the net looking for a suitable cool bag to store Enbrel. I came across a site that does a free travel kit and cooler bag but it's America
Hiya Sh1rl. I think the link Helix gave below is the company Julie was referring to friouk.com/
A friend of mine who's diabetic uses frio wallets - friouk.co/ and also there's another site if need bigger/longer cooling medactiv.com/
whoops sorry it's friouk.com
I bought a bag from Lakeland the kitchen website. I used ice cube packing that was in fact filled with a gel which expanded in water. Soaked up then chilled down. Lasted up to 3 days.

Hi Muffin
We have recently contacted Healthcare at Home, the main distribution company for these drugs, to ask about travelling with Humira. They have made us aware of a device called a 'mini-porter' that they can provide to keep the drugs cool when travelling. It is guaranteed for Humira, and suitable for the other anti-TNF's, including Enbrel. You can contact Healthcare at Home on: 0870 600 1540 or hah.co.uk/contact-us
If you are with a different distributor it may be worth contacting them to see if they offer a similar portable device.
We can also suggest a number of websites, that our members have made us aware of, where you may be able to find something suitable:
laminarmedica.com/products/...
arcticmedical.co.uk/index.html
I hope you manage to find something suitable.
Kind regards
Sarah Kate

If you have, or can get an insulated bag, such as used to take to outdoor cook-outs, etc, or to transport frozen groceries from store to home, like ice cream..., you can get those gel packed baggies at the Pharmacy, or the grocery store, etc. Once frozen and kept in an insulated bag, they last for atleast 48 hours , even more. Wrap the MTX vial in a small towel or paper towel, then place it in the insulated bag, with the frozen gel pack.
Another place to get them may be where they sell beer and wine!! xxxL.
I use a small insulated bag (which I used to use for my lunch at work) and put a freezer block (plastic block which freezes solid) in the bottom wrapped in a teatowel and then the Enbrel on top in its package and wrap a flap of the teatowel round that as well.
I have found most airlines very good at putting it into their fridge during a flight but if travelling by car or train, it will keep cold for a number of hours - enough to get to your destination and put it in the fridge there.
Loret - MTX should not be too cold - it should be kept cool only so I put it on top of the wrapped Enbrel so it is not in contact with the freezer block.
