DLA & PIP

Hi all, is the above the same benefit? Or is it different? Thanks again xx

I believe that pip is replacing DLA , if you apply now it will be for pip and if you are already claiming DLA at some point you will be asked to reapply for pip , I think it's being rolled out across the country at different times . I'm on DLA and worrying already about when I get the letter to reapply for pip . The pip will be much harder to claim you have to score points to see if you are entitled to the 3 different rates for mobility and care allowance also you have to attend a medical that they will arrange . Hopefully all of us who are genuine will be okay . Out of interest has anyone who's been claiming high rate mobility been unlucky and not got it on pip ?

If you go to the NRAS website they have a lot of information on this topic , I just had a look regards Teresa

Thanks for that. I was awarded indefinite high mobility and middle care in 2010. I hope I don't have to apply for PIP. Could do without the stress to the honest! X

I sent mine in September and I'm still waiting! I know of people who it's taken a year from applying to being awarded PIP but on the other hand know someone who applied

and received their assessment appt in weeks, it's the luck of the drawer I was told by ATOS today!! It seems though if you receive your

award/assessment date within days/weeks you are EXTREMELY lucky there are lots of other deserving people having to wait months. Good luck everyone with it.

The difficulty with the switch between DLA and PIP is the very different way they assess and give you points. Its just not the same beast. Some things you get points for now on DLA just won't be part of PIP. On the other hand, it is possible that some folk will do better on PIP. I know I had a look at the criteria and think that I could be one of those. It all depends on the nature of your disability.

and ATOS according to yesterdays paper is finishing its contract cos of death threats on its staff. I know of a person who is blind, [not deaf but can 'see' through a pin hole] cannot walk and has the brains of a three year old. Poor mite and I am not being derogatory. But told they can work by ATOS and then won their benefit back again. Point is who will they change it for. My letter said "DLA and after 2015 you will be asked to change for PIP "at some date in the future". I am 71 and had DLA since 1987 and renewed in 1994 for life.

I applied for PIP last October and phoned to see what was happening and they had passed the form onto ATOS for a medical and they are 6 months behind!!!! Honestly it's a shamble!! So who knows when or if I will get it. Be patient as not A QUICK PROCESS!!!

Is everyone that changes over to PIP from DLA called for a medical?

Backdated sounds good xx I think they may put a clause in now that people who wilfully saw legs off get less so u can use my saw first just in case. X

Hi kiki11 I would be very interested to know if you get it I to work and I am finding it so difficult that I am thinking of giving it up. I have been told I may find it very difficult to get pip because I work, if I did get it I could afford a bus pass and that would make my working life easier. I suppose wont know till I try to claim will I xxxx

If you are already on a benefit and are worried about your REASSESSMENT - this item may make you feel better (in the short term!)

Hi all. Ive been waiting for my PIP results for 10 months. Eventually ive got them back today. Unfortunately I've been unsuccessful :( The ATOS examiner did NOT include all of my symptoms. He seems too have missed a hell of alot out of the report. He also says I was in the examination for 45 mins when infact it was 15 mins. He also suggested I claim my travel expenses for a taxi fare. He said " I'll say I seen your receipt for this fare". Can anyone please advise me on which route I should take next please. Anything would be much appreciated. Thanks

I'm sorry to read your post. It seems your are not alone & yet another mark against ATOS. I've yet to receive the application form 5 weeks after requesting so unfortunately can't advise personally regarding your next step but I'm sure others who've been in the same position will & would think it will be to appeal. I posted a question the other day under the heading PIP Assessors, if you've a mo. take a look as similar situations cropped up.

I rang and asked for the report from the assessor before I got my award, I have to say it was incredibly inaccurate, I phoned DWP and they asked me to send in my response to the report which I have, I'm now sitting waiting for my award notice. Considering I am mostly bedbound at the moment I was stunned to read that I could easily walk up to 50metres, could manage my own care easily, and showed no sign of disease (although she admitted I might be in a 'bit' of pain). I'm sure that despite forwarding a letter from my rheumatologist and sending in my response I will still be denied any award.

I know this is an old thread but it is still relevant, I am going through my second PIP, having fallen at every hurdle in the first one, including the appeal, which could only take information up to 6 months previously to the hearing.

I rang the DWP to inform them of a change in circumstances, as the law requires of us, they seemed very disappointed when I told them I was considerably worse, I wonder why? I was only following the law, oh they only want to know if you are better, foolish.

The reason I have resurrected this thread is due to the similar comments raised about what occurred in the "assessment" and what was finally reported, I had that same occurrence in an Industrial Injuries assessment, (applied for at the behest of the DWP), I won't be "nice" about it, the assessor blatantly lied and as a result, ever since, I have insisted, it is your right, on it being recorded, they cannot refuse or request payment for it. They can request dual recording but they have to provide the equipment, if that is what they want, you will find it concentrates the mind of the assessor in producing an accurate report when you also have a tape.

They also have a habit of arranging interviews at buildings that don't have disabled access, for example on the 3rd floor, they also fail to read the forms that you have filled in with special requirements, they will continue down the path of most difficulty for you, you do not have to agree to that, BE INSISTENT, under the disability act THEY have to provide the correct facilities for your access or you can do what I have done and insist on a home visit.

On 24th September 2015, I shall have my 2nd PIP and I have my own recording facilities, for me, they can provide their own. I will update this in 4 days after my assessment has been completed and my blood pressure is back down so I avoid having another stroke.

Not what you're looking for?
