I been smoking since i was 18 and I am 43 now. I stopped smoking for a year when I was 41 but my depression and other life circumstances drove me to smoking again. I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 2020 and continued to smoke. I was told I have A-fib last month and I haven't smoked since. I dream about smoking, I never done that before. And I started a new job that I know will become stressful, I'm worried I will start again.

I gave it up cold turkey, but will it last?
Welcome lonlee1 and congratulations on what must be over a month smoke free now!?
Your story with stopping and starting sounds familiar to myself. I stopped in my early 20's for a year, started back again through boredom and gave it another go 15 years later after getting a fright in the early hours of the morning due to not getting my breath. I decided there and then to never smoke again. I stopped cold turkey and that was 7 years ago! The mindset of smoking was not an option was key for me to remain smoke free, even through the bumpy road over the last 7 years.
Wishing you continued strength and success to remain smoke free and that you recover and stabilize with your health issues. Post anytime to let us know how you are getting on
PS I still get the odd smoking dream!!
