So I work in an office Monday to Friday, my usual routine is every hour, get up and go for a cig, how can I stop this? when trying to quit in the past because of the stress at work, I seem to fail everytime because of work and being there. Any advice?

Whale13 Months Smoke Free

HiFirst of all you need to decide that you really, and I mean really want to stop smoking. Recommend reading Allen Carr easy way to stop smoking. It dispels all the myths and excuses to keep smoking. The reality is you are addicted to nicotine. Nicotine is the most addictive substance in the world. No wonder the tobacco companies added it to cigarettes! In addition, smoking does not cure stress, it actually makes it worse. You will find this out when you stop.

It takes 3 days for nicotine to leave your body and 3/4 months to leave your brain. The first 3 days are the worst, you have to be strong and determined. Cravings do come along and you have to distract yourself, drink water, deep breathing etc. Try not to do the things you did when smoking. The habit of leaving your desk every hour needs to be changed up. Do something else. I found drinking alcohol was very trying as I associated drinking with a fag. I've been smoking free for four months now and can honestly report that there are long swathes of time when I don't even think about smoking which is so liberating! I am no longer a slave to the evil weed!!

I still get the odd craving but I know what they are and am able to dismiss them.

It is wonderful to be smoke free, no longer smelling of stale tobacco, my smokers cough had gone, I sleep better, I can breathe again.

Good luck, you can do it 💪
