I ended up taking 12 days worth of champix. I felt totally fine until about day 10. Then I felt irritated, anxious, angry, emotional in quite a severe way. I took 2 more days worth (bear in mind I was still smoking so it wasn't nicotine withdrawal) and I ended up in a sobbing mess and feeling extremely depressed. These effects disappeared after about 2 days pill free. I discontinued them.
This really isn't like me at all. It was extreme. I really wanted champix to work for me so I am disappointed. I guess Just have to try another way and keep trying. Just wanted to update

I was just like you. About a month in on the Champix, I became dangerously depressed. Bawling like a baby, paralyzed and very very angry. So I put up with this nonsense for a couple more weeks and then stopped Champix about 1.5 months in. We are all so incredibly individual in terms of how we react to drugs. So listen to yourself and your intuition. Only you know the difference between what is bearable and what is dangerous. There's a reason the Champix commercials warn severe depression might be a side effect.
The good news is that you can and will quit without Champix. Can't wait to hear more from you Stacey, on your awesome new life without those nasty things. xo
Sorry to read Stacey48 that champix didn't work for you ;( Like gggg123 suggested, would cold turkey be a route to go down as effectively when you take your last cigarette with the aid of champix, you are effectively on your own and going cold turkey, the pills just take the edge of the cravings.
Whatever new plan you decide, we will be here ready to help in whatever way we can
I was exactly the same as you, I was fine for about 10 days, then everything changed, it got so bad I went to the doctor's, then got a call from the emergency crisis team. But 2 days after stopping them, I was fine. I felt so sorry for my kids at the time, all I did was scream or cry. ( Think theyve forgiven me now though 😁).
I tried everything under the sun to stop smoking, and finally managed it with the help of an e cig. And it took me over a year to come off that too.
Yes I might have to just suck it up and quit cold turkey. I shall have a read around on here and see how people have gone. All encouragement gratefully received
My partner too had similar symptoms. Totally out of character, he suddenly became severely irritated by anything and unable to recognise his temper flares. He spoke of suicide and focused on negativity. There are side affects on champix have a read. Since then he’s stopped taking them and had become his usual likeable self. He has admitted it has contributed to his behaviour.
