Strange ! The whole day , all I could think about is smoking - I am meeting a mate for drinks after work , I hope by then these silly thoughts have subsided!

Friend it hasn't even started yet you're in the " I am gonna beat this " stage and it fades and you become weaker. It really is a fight and it is long, I know !!.
I'd try and avoid booze if I were you it really does cause massive cravings. I didn't drink for 2 years because of that very reason.
Your desire for a smoke will always be there in some way, but the craving subsidies, but the want doesn't.
I quit when I was 43 and smoked for 27 years. Hold on to the suffering you've been through to get this far cold turkey, it will be that that carries you on to success.
Good to read you survived your 50th GazzabSA - as suggested to you previously try and avoid the alcohol and caffeine as they both contribute greatly to cravings......
