Hello; I'm only on day 3 of quitting smoking. Champix has been helping a lot. Doctor told me to take it for 2 full weeks before my quit date so that's what I did. I noticed quite soon that cigarettes didn't taste good anymore. Physical attraction GONE.
Doctor explained what I need to work on is the psychological attraction ... like .. thinking smoking is a perk, or a break. My first test was at work today when a co-worker asked me to come out with her for a smoke. I declined all 3 times she asked me. She knew I had quit but thought I could still go out with her. I said I can't be near it for a while. Instead I walked around my office floor a few times, stopping to chat with peeps here and there.
My biggest fear is becoming a 500 pound blob, so after 3 months of quitting, I'm entering a fitness program. Glad I found this place, it helps to read everyone's experience.
I haven't had nausea, just slight headaches and vivid scary dreams but they don't bother me ... actually quite entertaining

Welcome Quit4Money - congratulations on what is not 'only' 3 days smoke free, that is a huge achievement. After today the nicotine should be out of your system and then the mental battle begins as our mind and body begin the gradual process of rewiring, repairing and recovering. Take it one day at a time, avoid caffeine and alcohol, loads and loads of water, fresh fruit and vegetables and a bit of a walk every day to clear the head.
It is perfectly normal to put on some weight when we stop. Try not to worry about this at the moment, it can be addressed if needs be when you are stronger in your journey.

Thank you so much Hercu! On day 5 and still not missing it. But i know there will be times where i really miss it. Luckily, zero people in my family or circle of friends smoke. Only a couple people at work. Agree, new life without is excellent on my pocketbook and will be wonderful.
Hi, I quit with Champix and found that even though cigs tasted rubbish after a few days, it wasn’t enough for me to stop so, after the two weeks I knew it was down to me, so that was it, day 14 and done..!! Today is my 6 month anniversary nicotine free.
I personally didn’t quit coffee or alcohol, but that’s just me, I just changed my routine each day so I didn’t smoke, with alcohol I have an ecig with nicotine free liquid as a back up but I only ever use it if drinking, not any other time and to be honest, I’ve not used it for weeks as I’ve not been out.
You will do great, and don’t worry about the weight gain, I put a stone on but in the process of losing it which is going good ❤️
Hi Monica; wow 6 months, congratulations. Can't wait until I can say that. I allow myself coffee still also ... one or two cups in the morning. Awesome you're in process of losing that stone. Edited to add, if there was a thread to share nightmares, I might win the prize this week lol. Woke up heart pounding. i don't want to scare anyone so I'll keep it to myself. Thanks for the encouragement.
