Hi Ladies and Gents, well Day 10 and going so strong. One thing id like to ask all you experienced ones, ive been told that ill start coughing up 'gunk' and generally get a cough, I haven't done either, is this a bad thing as I'm not clearing my lungs? I have never suffered with a 'smokers cough' in the past either.

On another note, I have been everything in sight so, ive now decided to start eating healthy again ready for my holiday in August (woo hoo cant wait - 10 years since my last holiday) a bit of sun, sea and sand, much more than the UK :-)

Hey Monica1969 , well done on 10 days smoke free 💪🚭

I had the dreaded coughing up of the tar and mucous which I will never forget as was scary to see what I had done to my lungs and will stay with me forever never to put a cigarette in my mouth again.

But several members here did not experience this which I think may depend on how heavy of a smoker you were (l was smoking 35 to 40 a day).

With our new found taste and smell buds back, eating more is normal. Good plan with the healthy eating but don't worry about any weight gain at the moment, it can be dealt with if needs be when stronger in your journey.

Hi Roisin :-) I was a 20 a day smoker, on average, so it could be that or it may creep up on my a little further down the line.

I'm only thinking of my weight because of the bikini ha ha ha

Hi Monica....10 Days is wonderful ... You are one of the lucky ones and do not worry...Your lungs started to heal themselves directly after your last cigarette and if there was gunk it would have got rid of it....

Usually it is us heavier smokers 40 to 60 per day 30 years + and early sighs of COPD which are having that nasty experience...Be Happy and enjoy the bikini, "vitamin Sea" sand, and sunshine on your holiday....

Stay well !!

Ha ha ha ha ha Hercu, made me giggle the 'Vitamin Sea' :-)

I was a 20 a day smoker for about 30years so I did my time but I don't think I have signs of COPD. Lets hope I don't have gunk however, I heard, whether this is true or not, the ones that get rid of it are the ones that may not suffer in later years
