5 years ago I did something........I just wish I could remember what it was.......
(scratches head)........errrm.................oh yes: I had my last smoke.
I have completely forgotten about smoking now. I never think of it! Not even in the dreaded high-stress situations (when any smoker will tell you, that's when you really "need" a smoke).
That seductive mind-jabber, which comes up with an astonishing range of reasons for why you should carry on smoking. Anything like that going on inside your head? Just remember: it's talking Bo**ocks!!! None of those reasons are true. Not a single one.
There are undoubtedly ups and downs during the process of quitting. Sometimes you are beside yourself with desperation to smoke. At other times you suddenly realise you haven't thought about smoking for a few hours. As time goes on the periods of desperation shorten, and the periods of forgetting increase.
In due course you will find that you haven't thought about smoking for a whole day. Later, it will be a whole week (can you believe that? I know it sounds impossible! Nevertheless, it will happen).
After a while you will forget about smoking completely. It becomes something that other people do, but you just don't do any more. Something that has nothing to do with you!
