Just got through a really rough 4 weeks. Woke up with excruciating pain in my calf, so off I went to A@E where they diagnosed a deep vein thrombosis, kept me in supposedly overnight. Next day I couldn't get my breath so was rushed off immediately for a CAT scan, then immediately they ran with my bed into ICU. The clots had gone to my lungs. After 3 days in ICU they decided to check my heart, so I had an angiogram and they had to put 3 stents in my main arteries. I'm home and on the mend now but the doctors told me that if I hadn't stopped smoking 17 months ago I'd probably wouldn't have survived. So for those who are struggling to stop smoking take heed and keep strong because smoking really is a killer

I know how scared you must have been. A few years ago I could not walk 2 feet without gasping for air. Went to ER and also had pulmonary embolisms. Was hospitalized for over a week. I actually went back to smoking. It’s just crazy that this addiction is that strong. Finally, I have quit and this time for good. I wish you the best in your recovery. Your story has given me more strength to never smoke again.
