Day 11! I am using NHS stop smoking programme and have been using lightest 10mg patches (smallest ones available)for most of day . I was a 5 to 6 a day smoker...on and off for last20 years..all going well so far, navigating cravings, not missing the smoking gather at work in the rain! I really want to stop using the patches now as want to be nicotine free and worried that will have massive cravings! I thought to just put on patches for a few hours or cold turkey now..any thoughts? Concerned at patch dependency now....

RoisinO1Administrator3 Years Smoke Free
Welcome to our community Dellajean and congratulations on 11 days smoke free, that is great! I quit cold turkey almost 2 years ago and never looked back, it was a bumpy road at times but so achievable and worth it as every day smoke free the stronger you become.
I would suggest trying to start a new day without the patches and see how it goes (put the patches away just to have on stand by if it gets too much for you) - it only takes 3 days for the nicotine to leave your system then the mental battle starts as your body begins to rewire repair and recover - you can do it, I promise, lots of water, deep breathing and above all post here, we will help you through it.
