Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just want to share with everyone that it's my first week since I stopped smoking. No fails yet and I plan to keep it that way. I've never felt so good. I can now take deep breaths, taste my food really well and my sense of smell is back to normal. I've had many attempts to quit smoking and so far this is the biggest achievement I've attained. I surpassed drinking alcohol without smoking, I surpassed not smoking in front of 6 people who were smoking. I almost gave up but I just told myself I will not fail this time. It was such a great feeling to achieve it. I am having insomnia now as part of my withdrawal. Currently what's bothering me is that I feel some pain in my throat. If anybody can give some remedies for this, I highly appreciate it. Thanks!

Welcome watchinangga to our community and congratulations on 1 week smoke free! Well done! The insomnia and sore throat and just general flu like symptoms are perfectly normal, for the throat I would recommend take raw (or normal) honey - a spoonful every morning for the first few months of your quit, its not pleasant but just swallow it in one go, it really does wonders for your throat and assisting in clearing out your lungs as the cilia damaged by smoking need to repair and regrow - drink some lemon with warm water will also help with the throat.

Hello RoisinO1 . Things have never been this better. I had some honey and lemon with warm water the other night before I went to bed, the next morning my sore throat was much better. Today I can swallow much better than the previous days. I can feel it is recovering really well. Thanks for your advise, I appreciate it a lot.

By the way it's my 10th day smoke free today.
