Hi Hope,

Isn't it weird how that happens, but it does and you shouldn't feel concerned. The more you worry about it the more it seems to take hold.

Cheers

Nic

The thing I have come to realise (after 10months) is you are never going to have that day when you wake up and never think of smoking again! Every time I have stress I immediatly think - I need a cig! I havegood days, weeks - even months! but every now and then it rears its head and I think - oh sod it I'll have a cig. Now... I must confess I had 2 cigs back in December. I felt HORRIFIC! I went green... and was nearly sick. I also could smell the smoke on my fingers for hours. I even had a shower, changed all my clothes as I felt so vile. So I now view it even more - that in actual fact it would take some going to get addicted again. i would have to endure a few weeks (days?) of feeling ill - it took me back to my first cig as a teenager!!

So whilst we all look back from time to time missing our friend.. the reality is could you actually go out, buy 10 or would it be 20? May as well as you are smoking again.. where would you have that comforting cig? Each day for me gets better, I cant wait to reach a year. I still think - this time last year I smoked. But since then I have done so much - little things at first (like walking, driving, going on holiday, moving, exams - each is a new victory! I have even had the stress of a hideous relationship experience - I survived without cigs!!!

Anyway - I have hijacked the post!! Good luck one and all - and if you are on day one of quitting, dont worry!! Its all good!

Today, has been another day when I have considered a cig ( I wouldn't actually, but its been on my mind) as its Stop Smoking Day! What an irony, I started smoking again on the one day everyone is meant to stop haha! I wont...

I haven't been on the forum for weeks but popped on tonight to see how the guys and gals were getting on on NSD...my first quit date last year - lasted 5 days - but now heading for the holy grail of a year...

came across this thread and felt such a HUGE wave of relief...cos I still have some seriously cr*p days and it really pi**es me off that I still have to think about cigarettes!!! the last five weeks have been what can only be described as a living nightmare - (men!!!) and I have come so so close to going out and buying some cigarettes. I KNOW it wouldn't have helped anything but that was what I wanted to do..:o have been so close to cracking up just felt it didn't matter any more..

bit more stable now and still haven't smoked...but it is a struggle...

It takes a long long time to be free.... good luck to one and all...

p.s. "the penthouse" is the 1year+ section!!:D

I am looking forward to gaining access to the Penthouse! Does it have a roof terrace? As I never smoke in doors (I joke!!!) but this would have been a consideration in the past!

MEN are indeed the route of all evil - and reading between the lines, it would appear that Men are the a main cause for falling off the wagon. I have coped with a job change, a house move, car accident, holiday etc etc But as soon as my better half advised of an indiscretion - I literally ran out and bought the cigs!!! NOW I have some advice.

If you take up smoking because of men problems, then, forever more when you light up - you will be reminded of the git! Not only will you be single, but also a stinking hideous creature that is not going to have their pick of the boys!!

You are right there CB, it would be a constant reminder!! Trouble is he would be SO pis**d off if I started to smoke again...quite tempting to do it for that reason alone!!?!? (when I'm really p'd off):o But then I think, why would u want him to know he's driven you back to the weeds (if you get my gist!??)...

You mentioned being a stinking hideous creature...one of the things that has kept me on the "straight and narrow" is the awful awful stale cigarette smell that wafts off people as they pass u in the street and especially people serving you in shops!!...it really really makes me cringe to think that that is how I must've smelled!!!!

see you in the penthouse - hope the roof terrace has nice loungers and a bar.....

The smell is horrific! Unfortunatley for me a lot of my friends advise I never smelt of it (?!) Maybe they were just used to it? My colleague at work quit the same time as me, she is now back to smoking and STINKS! I think it is especially vile when being served in shops, having my hair cut as well is a problem. The whole salon smokes (they do go outside at least!) but all I can smell is smoke! Its drives me crazy!!!!!
