Here we go again - the first day. There aren't any cigarettes in the house which is going to be a massive help. I have done this before but like an idiot, had one puff and that was the end of it. Really want to do this as I am no longer enjoying it and spend all my time worrying about it.
My first day....: Here we go again - the... - No Smoking Day
My first day....
Good luck Mushen with your quit. The first few days are the hardest but keep strong. Are you using NRT or going cold turkey? Day 7 for me.
I am using an E-cig with a medium level of nicotine but am not using it very much.....yet. I gave up for 3 months last year but stupidly ruined it all at Christmas.
Exactly the same as me mushen! Three months...one on Christmas Eve...back on a pack a day within a week.
I quit again when I went back to work so I've been off them for nearly three months again. It can be done!! Don't let a history of relapsing put you off. You were just rehearsing!
That makes me feel a bit better. Have been feeling like such a failure that it kind of puts me off trying. Today has been OK ...so far. Thank you for your kind words.
Welcome Mushen and congratulations on day 1!
You appear to be well prepared and in a good frame of mind which will be vital in your quit. Keep yourself as busy as possible, lots of water and stay close to the forum and post as often as you need to.
Wishing you strength and success.
Good luck, first few days are hard but you can do this.
Good luck Mushen. Alot easier when no cigarettes in the house. I know how difficult it can be my boyfriend is a smoker. I hate the smell of smoke now but still find days when I think I want a cigarette. Keep yourself busy and drink plenty of water thats what I do. I chew alot of gum too 😊
How is it going today mushen?
On the whole, things are going OK. It is a massive help that there are not any fags in the house and husband is still on board. Had a few cravings mainly because I used smoking as a reward system so as soon as I left the gym, it was the first thing I thought of. Sad but true. Appreciate your reply today because this can feel like quite a lonely process so I am grateful. Not using my e-cig much either, just here and there.
How are you doing? OK I hope.
Good for you Mushen, you are doing great, keep it up!
Good to hear it's going alright. I completely understand the post-gym craving. I used to have a cigarette as soon as I came back from a run and it's one of the ones that I miss the most. It is still the first thing I think of in that situation. Crazy really!
Anyway, I'm doing fine, thanks for asking. Still get the odd craving and smoking related thoughts (like the one above) but they're easier to dismiss.
I'm using an ecig too. My advice on that front would be to continue using it as little as possible.
Keep going...you'll get there!
I hope so. Sadly husband (who is off work this week) has just caved in and there are now cigarettes in the house! I'm NOT going to have one. I DO NOT SMOKE. Going to go out for a bit instead ☺
Thought I was the only one who exercised and then smoked afterwards. Thank goodness you are here because I now feel sort of accountable which is helping me resist the urge. ☺
Mushen, I thought I was the only one that used to smoke after exercise! I am a very keen cyclist who regularly goes out and does between 40-100 mile rides, but who within 2 minutes of getting back home used to light up a cigarette. Luckily I never took them with me, or I might have even had one mid-ride.
I am doing really well with my quit so far on day 9, but haven't been out on the bike since quitting due to manflu, so I am hoping that I still don't feel like one after my first ride (which maybe later this morning)
I think the thing to remember is that after a bike ride or a massive gym session, we are going to get a 'trigger'. Thankfully it doesn't seem to last long and the more rides you do without a cigarette afterwards, the less it will happen. That's the theory anyway! Enjoy your ride if you do go out today.
Hey Mushen, glad to read hubby is back on board, that is great!
Some advice just to help you, everyones quit is individual to themselves and should be treated that way, support one another alright but don't be influenced by any weaknesses or negativity, have the belief that you alone can do this....
I wish I was you right now - those first days are most amazing!
Enjoy the experience and smoke free life
