days smoke free....I can’t quite believe that tomorrow is Day 50 and I am heading into Week 8!

I typed my first post here on Day 8 as I was struggling – big time! The panic and anxiety of how I was going to cope quitting cold turkey and my life without smoking was extremely daunting. I was on a week’s annual leave from work when I started my quit and just typed in Day 8 of not smoking and this forum came up, boy am I glad it came up as don’t think I would be here without it and I thank you all for the support and encouragement .

I am now at the stage of my quit that I have adapted to deal with life’s stress that I no longer wish or crave for a cigarette in those situations. I think the last 2 weeks for me were a real test as they were extremely stressful both in work and personally. I honestly feel and believe I will never smoke again! The grief (and it is like grief) of life without smoking has passed and it is now only random occasional thoughts of smoking which pass very quickly. My quit has finally got easier but I know from researching I still need my guard up at all times. Also, one thing I need to work on though is the paranoia I have that I left it too late to give up and not think that every little twinge I have or get is something wrong as a result of my years of smoking.

For all the newbies here at the moment, I wish ye strength and I promise you it does get easier but determination and focus is vital. Thanks again to everyone here. xo

Waking up and reading this post just definitely made my day :)

Congratulations on your achievement, the forum certainly helps a lot but ultimately it was you that did the job.

Well done and may this be our last quit ever!

Don't ever put your guard down, stay alert, I found it very puzzling how our mind plays tricks on us unexpectedly

A big hug to you, you deserve it :)

That's lovely to read.

You sound so much more relaxed and at ease with the whole thing than you did a few weeks ago.

Congratulations on reaching the big five zero tomorrow!

Excellent achievement Rowen08, Keeping your guard up is key, those moments of weakness/urges/craves whatever we call them can sneak up and oddly not only during stressful times but times when you may not expect. On guard 24/7 365 forever. I'll be looking forward to your day 100 post, should be twice as inspiring.
