Its a tough choice...

Hello Everyone.

This is my first post in the forum,

I dont mind saying this I am a slave of the little stick.

I have been smoking on and off for like 13 years now, never on weekends and never more than 6-7 per day. I never felt like quitting. There were times when I didnot smoke for like 2 months or 2-3 weeks but I never put genuine efforts in quitting. I told so many lies to get the puff.

I even attended Allen Carr;s session of quit smoking, cried whole night and realised, I want to give up. Until then I used to think that I can give up any day i want to and I realise today, its too late for me now, Its not easy.

Since last 2-3 weeks, I am getting weird dreams, having trouble in breathing, pain in lungs and god damn thoughts. I have a small daughter and I love her like my life.

I am willing to quit and I dont know if only will power works, Considering my nature, I assume I will need medications. I love myself too very much and I know, the pleasure of puffs is too difficult to give it up.

Help me friends, I have cut down from 9 to 6 to 3 now. I dont know when it will become 1 or Zero.

Thanks,

Hello Naresh0506 and Welcome to the forum

You've come to the right place if you want to quit smoking because we're all in the same boat here.

I think it will be easier than you think as you're a relatively light smoker compared to some of us on here and also you've only been smoking for 13 years - yes, I know that even that is too long.

Personally I think you can do this without any medications etc but if you do feel you need them then go along to your doctor or pharmacy and find out what's on offer.

Quitting smoking really boils down to willpower and determination and most important of all you deciding that you want to do it.

You have some good reasons already so you're well on your way.

Just post on the forum and you'll get all the support you want.

Wishing you lots of luck and looking forward to sharing your quit with you.:)

ps I forgot to say that the secret of giving up smoking is not concentrating on what you think you are losing. It is all about what you are actually gaining.:)

Hey Naresh0506 and welcome - you called your post title 'its a tough choice', when you put out your last smoke it will be the best choice you will ever make. I will be honest, quitting is hard and is a rollercoaster of a ride but you will get through it if you are focused, determined and serious about quitting, which you seem to be by coming on here for help. This forum has done wonders for my quit with the help, encouragement and support. I am currently on Day 40 doing it cold turkey and doing well but there has been hard at times but I am coming out the other side. I would suggest reading posts from the early stages of quits so you can get an idea of what to expect. Good luck and look forward to reading your progress;)
