Day 43 - Checking in...

Was just wandering around different quit smoking forums, lurking under LiveStrong's website, and it was shown in big numbers, that there are 484K conversations on the Quit Smoking section, and that tops the board. This is followed by 2nd place, Tracking Food at around 249K conversations.

Goes to show that the nicotine demon has a significant hold on GenPop.

And the sequence (at least for me) seems right, quit smoking and then figure out how to manage the weight gain. :D

Yesterday, @ Day 42, I think was the first time I had an entire day without a single crave. It was weird, but I only realized that when my OH asked me how yesterday went. To top it off, I had lunch with an old buddy of mine, who's still smoking, he knows I've started my quit journey.

So we met at around 2pm, he ran out of fags, and was kinda embarrassed whilst he stood in the queue waiting to buy a pack from the store whilst I was holding his drinks for him. I told him to take his time, don't worry, and I started reading the news on my phone. He was out after awhile, and we stepped outside, have a seat @ the bench so that he can fag.

And I was kinda stunned at how much he was doing, chain of 5 or was it 7 sticks in a row, I lost track...... but we chat, and caught up on things that has happened in our lives over the last 2 weeks, and after 45 mins or so, we went our separate ways. Throughout the episode, no craves. Strange.

Will remain vigilant today, and hopefully, its a peaceful non-eventful no trigger day.

Now that is the post of someone going all the way to the Penthouse! :D

Nice one Edge. Isn't it wonderful when you reach that epiphany moment? I had a similar moment when sitting on a bench outside a local hospital being a little early to deliver a community talk back in February. I remember posting about it that evening so I can really identify.

Well done mate and have a fantastic day :)

Hi Edged, it's great when you realise you haven't had a craving for a long time, especially if you have been around smokers, well done. 43 days is brilliant :D

Yea, thank you all !

Another reason for posting is also a note to self, that it takes almost 40ish days to get a full no-crave day... heheheheh.

A few craves today, but so far so good. I think being with friends who smokes is now OK, alcohol is OK too.... the rough ones are strangely, vacations and after meals ! Especially after lunch !

It really is wonderful, being free from this slavery. I'm not sure whether it was my imagination, but the fact that I'm not smoking seems to make my smoker friend, fag even more !

These associations have to go, I believe they will go away...so I will just plug on, just a day at a time, and figure the rest out tomorrow. :)

Congratulations! You seem to doing so well, especially managing being around smokers. The associations do go away eventually. Some just take longer than others, after meals was a difficult one for me too.

Sounds a bit barmy but I found for months after I gave up I'd get cravings whilst watching tennis on tv. traditionally I would always dash outside for a quick cig between sets - it's only in the last couple of months that the cravings for these ones have started to gradually disappear, but they are doing and they will.

Thank you AbbiM, you gave me hope that there IS in fact, light at the end of the tunnel ! Heheheh

Next vacation coming up end September, hope it will be easier than the last one.
